Lead and transform the QA function for an AI-accelerated software organization. Define technical quality strategy, CI/CD gates, test-data approaches for PHI, and automation across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing. Build and grow a high-performing quality engineering team, set release standards and exit criteria, integrate AI/LLM evaluation with MLEs, and provide auditable metrics for leadership and regulators.

We’re seeking a skilled a Director of Quality Assurance Engineering to join our team!

The Director of Quality Engineering owns the quality function across the full software development lifecycle — from strategy and organizational design to the technical standards that govern how software ships. This is a strategic leadership role for someone who is leading the rethinking of what quality means in an era where AI generates the majority of code, and who can build the systems, culture, and team to match.

The Ideal candidate is...
  • A leader who has a pulse on industry AI best practices and is already transforming quality for the AI-accelerated development era.
  • Someone who relishes impact through roles no longer defined by traditional QA boundaries: you operate at the intersection of platform, engineering, MLE, and product.
  • A quality advocate who can hold the bar on rigor without becoming the bottleneck on velocity.
  • A data-driven leader who develops meaningful metrics and uses them to drive decisions — not just report status.
Does this sound like the right opportunity to explore?... Lets connect!

What You’ll Do
Strategy & Leadership
  • Rethink the QA team methodologies and skillsets/training in a world where AI generates the majority of code — evaluation methodologies, coverage metrics that account for AI-generated tests, and scaling to validation of multiplying volumes of code and use cases, without proportional headcount growth.
  • Lead, grow, and inspire a high-performing team of Quality Engineers; own hiring targets, career ladders, and a high impact, innovative culture; Grow leadership muscle in your team.
  • Represent quality to executive leadership and regulators with meaningful metrics and auditable evidence; be the organizational quality gate.
Technical Quality Strategy
  • Own an AI-driven technical quality architecture: test data strategy in PHI-constrained environments, CI/CD-integrated gate design, and the automation framework philosophy across unit, integration, and end-to-end surfaces.
  • Establish release quality standards and exit criteria that balance engineering velocity with production confidence; Define defect triage and escalation protocols used across teams.
  • Partner with platform and MLE to integrate AI/LLM evaluation methodology into the delivery pipeline.
  • Deep familiarity with the test automation landscape across languages and stacks

What You Bring
  • 10+ years of software quality engineering experience, with 4+ years in a leadership role and 2+ years driving strategy and execution in an AI-accelerated development environment.
  • Track record of building or transforming a quality function at scale — org and role design, not just team management.
  • Experience evaluating AI-generated tests for correctness of intent and coverage fidelity — able to distinguish tests that pass from tests that actually verify the right behavior.
  • Experience showing measurable impact with mutation testing, risk-based testing, and production observability as a continuous quality gate.
  • Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Excitement to make an impact in rewiring US healthcare!
What We Offer
  • Work from anywhere in the US! Machinify is digital-first.
  • Top Medical/Dental/Vision offerings
  • FSA/HSA
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Competitive salary, 401(k) with company match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Additional health and wellness benefits and perks
  • Flexible and trusting environment where you’ll feel empowered to do your best work
