Director of Product, Client Group

Virta Health is on a mission to reverse metabolic disease in one billion people. Current treatment approaches aren’t working—over half of US adults have either type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, and obesity rates are at an all-time high. Virta is changing this by helping people reverse their metabolic condition through innovations in technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery reinvented from the ground up. We have raised over $350 million from top-tier investors, and partner with the largest health plans, employers, and government organizations to help their employees and members restore their health and take back their lives. Join us on our mission to reverse metabolic disease in one billion people.

Scaling is challenging, and exciting ! This role is at the heart of successfully scaling at Virta. The Director of Product, Client Group is a strategic role accountable for proving that we can be more effective and efficient at 10x scale than we are today. You’ll prioritize how we innovate and automate for internal teams – both through traditional software, but also for helping teams apply AI Native thinking to transform not just efficiency but also effectiveness and nimbleness.

You will be accountable for the product vision and roadmap for Virta’s client operations platform, spanning core services like eligibility ingestion, claims integration, data exchange pipelines, billing support, reporting, marketing enablement, and accounting operations. You’ll lead a team of product managers and partners cross-functionally across Engineering, Design, Data, Customer Success, Finance, and Implementation to drive the foundation that powers Virta’s growth. If you’re motivated by complexity, energized by data, the possibilities of applying AI to solve real problems and passionate about building scalable systems that drive meaningful impact, we’d love to meet you.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that every year our teams are more effective, and more efficient, breaking the assumption that as companies double in size they become slower and less efficient.

  • Define and drive the long-term product vision for Client Group’s platform and services.

  • Ensure we can effortlessly support hundreds, then tens of thousands of clients with diverse needs—securely, efficiently, and flexibly.

  • Oversee development of critical infrastructure: client onboarding tooling, file ingestion pipelines, API-based integrations, billing data workflows, and marketing enablement systems with a lens towards AI first solutions.

  • Ensure client-facing and Finance teams have the tools they need to launch and support clients effectively.

  • Have the ability to go beyond today’s asks, and reimagine what great looks like

  • Define and own OKRs along efficiency, quality and accuracy.

  • Manage and develop a team of PMs across Client Group squads fostering a high performance impact oriented product culture.

You’ll be great for this role if you:
  • You have 8+ years of experience in a product management, or related product development role.

  • Are at the forefront of generative AI, building ahead of the curve to make the most of exponential improvements, turning capabilities like vector spaces, LLMs, core GPT capabilities, MCP and agentic flows into powerful systems for care teams

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity driving 0 to 1 product development.

  • You’ve tackled data interoperability or integration initiatives. You’ll need to understand APIs, FHIR standards, Eligibility and Claims data to write product specs that translate business requirements to technical specs.

  • You enjoy solving data problems and how data can be leveraged across systems.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills

  • Experience in IPO Readiness, or evolving similarly mature quote to cash systems.

  • Experience shipping consumer-facing applications with a focus on behavior change is a plus

Values-driven culture

Virta’s company values drive our culture, so you’ll do well if:

  • You put people first and take care of yourself, your peers, and our patients equally

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and take initiative while empowering others to do the same

  • You prioritize positive impact over busy work

  • You have no ego and understand that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experience

  • You appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of information

  • You are evidence-based and prioritize data and science over seniority or dogma

  • You take risks and rapidly iterate

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
