THE ROLE

The Director, Customer & Consumer Insights is responsible for leading and advancing the consumer insights function of AG1, ensuring that data-driven understanding of customers & consumers informs brand, growth, and product experiences across the organization. This role partners closely with Marketing, Growth, Product, and cross-functional teams to translate consumer understanding into strategic guidance that drives business impact across global markets and consumer experiences.

This role will lead brand and growth insights initiatives while also overseeing UX/UI research that informs the development and optimization of consumer experiences. In addition, the Director will provide strategic oversight to the New Product Development (NPD) consumer research, ensuring alignment with broader consumer trends, brand and  business strategies.

The Director, Customer & Consumer Insights plays a critical role in shaping how the organization understands and responds to consumer needs. By leading brand, growth, and experience insights while overseeing NPD research, this role ensures that consumer understanding is consistently embedded across strategic initiatives and that insights serve as a trusted foundation for business decision-making.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

Insights Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the Consumer Insights function and define the strategic roadmap for insights across brand, growth, and experience initiatives.
  • Establish best-in-class research standards, frameworks, and tools that elevate the quality, rigor, and impact of insights across the organization.
  • Ensure insights are integrated into key business decisions, helping teams translate consumer understanding into actionable strategies.
  • Define the long-term vision and operating model for Consumer Insights at AG1, ensuring insights capabilities scale alongside business growth and evolving organizational priorities 
  • Identify emerging global consumer, cultural, category, and market trends that inform strategic opportunities, innovation, and business planning
  • Ensure consumer insights strategies appropriately reflect regional, cultural, and market-specific dynamics as AG1 continues to expand globally
  • Drive alignment across cross-functional stakeholders on insights priorities, ensuring research investments are focused on the highest-impact business opportunities
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership, translating complex consumer and market dynamics into clear business recommendations

Brand & Growth Insights

  • Lead all insights initiatives supporting brand strategy, brand performance tracking, and marketing effectiveness.
  • Own and evolve the brand tracking program to ensure it delivers actionable insights for marketing and growth teams.
  • Partner closely with Marketing and Growth teams to guide campaign development, messaging optimization, and audience strategy through consumer understanding.

UX/UI & Experience Research

  • Oversee all UX/UI research efforts to support product and digital experience improvements.
  • Ensure consumer insights inform design decisions, usability improvements, and customer journey optimization across digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to embed consumer-centered thinking into product development and experience design.
  • Guide consumer-centered product and experience strategy by translating behavioral, attitudinal, and usability insights into actionable recommendations 
  • Influence end-to-end customer journey improvements across digital and product experiences through deep understanding of consumer needs, friction points, and motivations

New Product Development Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight for New Product Development research initiatives.
  • Partner with Director, Integrated Marketing, who will continue to lead NPD research, to ensure alignment between innovation insights and broader consumer and brand strategies.
  • Support the prioritization and application of research that informs product innovation and concept development.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Build strong partnerships with Marketing, Growth, Product, and other cross-functional teams to ensure insights are trusted, credible, and embedded in decision-making.
  • Communicate insights clearly and effectively to senior leadership, helping drive alignment and strategic clarity.
  • Develop scalable research frameworks, tools, vendor strategies, and operational processes that enable efficient, high-quality insights generation across markets, audiences, and business initiatives

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Maintain organization and operational effectiveness within the insights function.
  • Mentor team members and foster a collaborative, high-performing insights culture.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • 10+ years of experience in consumer insights, customer insights, UX research, market research, or related strategy-focused disciplines, including experience leading highly cross-functional insights initiatives in complex organizations
  • Proven experience building and evolving insights functions, frameworks, or capabilities that influence strategic business decisions across marketing, growth, product, brand, and customer experience
  • Deep expertise across qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, with the ability to translate complex consumer data into actionable business recommendations
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to connect consumer understanding to organizational priorities, growth opportunities, and customer outcomes
  • Experience influencing senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders through compelling storytelling, executive communication, and evidence-based recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments with high levels of ambiguity and organizational complexity
  • Experience leading large-scale or multi-stakeholder research initiatives spanning brand, product, customer experience, and innovation efforts
  • Strong organizational leadership and operational excellence capabilities, including experience scaling processes, improving ways of working, and elevating research rigor and effectiveness 
  • Experience in DTC, wellness, healthcare, consumer products, subscription businesses, or high-growth environments preferred
  • Experience supporting global and multi-market insights initiatives, including consideration of regional, cultural, and market-specific nuances.

AG1 is dedicated to providing equitable and competitive compensation & benefits packages. For this particular role, the base salary range is $150,000 - $170,000 and will ultimately be decided at the offer stage, based on an individual candidate’s level of skills and experience aligned with the needs of this role. Base salary is one component of total compensation for this position. We provide a competitive mix of base salary, performance bonus, and stock option allocation for eligible roles.
