ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support the execution of enterprise data governance initiatives across business and technology teams to improve the quality, consistency, and accountability of data assets.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining governance processes related to data ownership, stewardship, classification, quality, lineage, and metadata.
- Work effectively in a regulated environment, ensuring governance activities align with enterprise policies, control standards, and compliance expectations.
- Facilitate collaboration across stakeholders to promote common definitions, data standards, and consistent use of critical data.
- Help drive transparency and accountability for data-related issues, controls, and remediation efforts.
- Adapt to evolving tools, regulatory expectations, and business needs while maintaining consistent governance practices.
- Support implementation and ongoing administration of the enterprise data governance framework, including policies, standards, roles, and procedures.
- Partner with data owners, data stewards, business units, IT, and risk partners to define and maintain critical data elements, business glossaries, and data lineage documentation.
- Assist in monitoring and improving data quality by identifying issues, documenting root causes, tracking remediation, and coordinating with stakeholders on corrective actions.
- Maintain and enhance governance documentation, including data definitions, ownership assignments, standards, issue logs, and control inventories.
- Support governance forums, working groups, and review meetings by preparing materials, documenting decisions, and tracking follow-up items.
- Help enforce consistency in data definitions, usage, and control practices across systems, reports, and business processes.
- Contribute to metadata management activities, including cataloging key data assets and supporting traceability across source systems and reporting outputs.
- Coordinate with reporting, analytics, and technology teams to ensure governed data is aligned with enterprise priorities and business needs.
- Support policy adherence and control readiness by assisting with audits, exams, risk assessments, and internal reviews related to data governance.
- Provide reporting and metrics on governance program maturity, data quality trends, issue resolution progress, and stewardship engagement.
- 3+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, business analysis, risk, compliance, or a related function.
- Experience working with data in banking or financial services preferred, including awareness of regulatory, control, and reporting expectations.
- Understanding of core data governance practices, including data ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage, data quality, and policy standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data issues and support practical remediation efforts.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate documentation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across business and technology teams.
- Ability to translate data-related concepts into clear, actionable language for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with data governance, metadata, or reporting tools is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Data Management, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with data governance or metadata tools such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with data quality monitoring, issue management, and control documentation.
- Exposure to report governance, master data management, or enterprise data catalog initiatives.
- Understanding of data lifecycle management, retention, classification, and privacy-related considerations.
- Experience supporting governance programs in a matrixed or highly regulated environment.
- Knowledge of BI and analytics environments such as Power BI, SQL-based reporting, or data warehousing concepts.
