The Data Engineer II independently designs, builds, tests, deploys, and supports scalable data pipelines, integrations, models, and reusable platform components. This role translates defined business and analytical requirements into secure, reliable solutions and partners across data, technology, and business teams to improve data accessibility and quality.
Responsibilities- Own defined data engineering solutions from requirements and design through deployment, monitoring, and support.
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, integrations, data models, APIs, and batch or near-real-time workflows.
- Translate business rules and source-system behavior into maintainable technical designs and mappings.
- Implement automated testing, reconciliation, observability, alerting, metadata, and lineage for assigned solutions.
- Tune data pipelines, storage, and queries for reliability, scalability, performance, and cost effectiveness.
- Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, remediate defects, and prevent recurrence.
- Apply CI/CD, version control, code review, documentation, security, privacy, and governance standards.
- Partner with analytics, BI, data science, architecture, product, and business teams to deliver usable data products.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual flows and create reusable engineering patterns.
- Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, code review, and knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in data engineering, software engineering, business intelligence, analytics engineering, or data platform development.
- Experience building and supporting production ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, warehouses, lakes, or lakehouses.
- Strong SQL and proficiency in Python, Scala, Java, or a similar language.
- Experience with a cloud data platform, orchestration tool, and automated testing or CI/CD preferred.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.
The pay ranges from $140,000.00-$170,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
