The Opportunity

Join Putnam’s Value, Pricing & Market Access (VPA) practice and help leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies navigate some of their most important commercialization and access challenges.

As a Consultant, you will play a key role on client engagements focused on pricing, market access, value strategy, launch planning, payer strategy, and commercialization. You will work closely with clients and Putnam leadership while guiding project teams, structuring complex problems, developing insights, and translating analysis into actionable recommendations.

This is an opportunity for someone with life sciences and/or consulting experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility, deepen their expertise in value and market access, and have meaningful exposure to senior clients and firm leaders.

What You’ll Do

As a Consultant within our Value, Pricing & Market Access practice, you will:

  • Partner with clients to understand complex business challenges and develop hypotheses and strategic approaches to address them.
  • Structure and solve strategic and analytical problems related to pricing, market access, payer strategy, value proposition, launch strategy, and commercialization.
  • Lead the day-to-day execution of client engagements, coordinating workstreams and helping project teams stay focused on key objectives.
  • Guide and mentor Associates and Life Sciences Consultants, providing direction, feedback, and support throughout engagements.
  • Conduct and synthesize quantitative and qualitative analyses to identify meaningful insights and implications.
  • Translate complex findings into clear, compelling, and actionable recommendations for clients.
  • Develop high-quality client presentations and participate in client meetings, workshops, and presentations.
  • Collaborate closely with Putnam Partners, Principals, and colleagues across our broader global health and life sciences organization.
  • Build expertise across therapeutic areas, market access challenges, and evolving trends shaping the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

What We’re Looking For

We recognize that great candidates bring different combinations of experience and expertise. You may be a strong fit if you have:

  • Relevant professional experience in life sciences consulting, pharmaceutical or biotechnology strategy, market access, pricing, commercialization, or a related field.
  • A strong understanding of the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry and the factors influencing product value, pricing, reimbursement, and market access.
  • Experience analyzing complex business questions and turning data and research into strategic recommendations.
  • Strong quantitative, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing and presenting clear, compelling recommendations.
  • Experience managing projects, workstreams, and/or junior team members.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented, client-service environment.
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in solving complex challenges at the intersection of science, strategy, access, and commercialization.
  • An advanced degree such as an MBA, MPH, MS, PharmD, PhD, or other relevant postgraduate degree is welcome but not required.
