Chief Growth Officer - Remote

Our Organization

CDP, a Boston-based public benefit corporation, uses the collaborative fundraising model to improve the operational efficiency and revenue generation capacity of the public media system. CDP currently provides more than 230 NPR and PBS public media organizations (PMO’s) with outsourced marketing, data analytics, fundraising, and technology services. These services help PMO’s raise more net income, grow their donor files faster, lower their fundraising costs, and free up development talent allowing stations to better focus on local engagement. Since its inception, CDP has delivered more than $1 billion in membership revenue for local PMO’s participating in its services and has become the most widely adopted Public Media service in the history of public media.

Just as CDP is committed to supporting public media organizations around the country, we are equally committed to supporting each of our team in their own professional development.

Job Summary

In communities across the country—from major cities to small, rural towns—public media organizations and nonprofits fill gaps no one else will, providing local journalism, education, arts and culture, and a trusted place where people connect. Many public media organizations are among the smallest nonprofits in the country, yet together they form one of the largest membership communities in America, and they depend on the generosity of their donors to keep that work alive. CDP exists to help them do that—and do it better. We’re looking for a Chief Growth Officer who will help us bring that impact to more organizations, more communities, and more of the people public media serves.

As a member of CDP’s Executive Team, you’ll lead our integrated growth, innovation, marketing, and business development strategy. At CDP, growth isn’t an end in itself. It means helping more public media organizations—regardless of size or resources—strengthen donor relationships, build long-term financial sustainability, and invest more in the content and services their communities count on. You’ll shape where CDP goes next across public media and thoughtfully selected adjacent nonprofit markets, turn unmet client needs into scalable solutions, and sharpen how we tell our story. You’ll build the systems, tools, and rhythms that help CDP grow with clarity and consistency, and bring an executive voice to our most strategic relationships and opportunities. You’ll lead two senior leaders—the Senior Director, Business Development and the VP, Innovation & Marketing, who leads a sizable team—and through them bring sales, marketing, CDP Labs, and Innovation & Partnerships together around one shared goal: measurable value for our clients and lasting impact for public media.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Set the direction for growth. Partner with the CEO and Executive Team to translate CDP’s enterprise strategy into a clear go-to-market plan—target markets, priority client segments, ideal client profiles, and which opportunities to pursue, pause, scale, or sunset.
  • Build a repeatable growth engine. Establish growth goals, quarterly targets, and the metrics that matter—pipeline health, win rate, forecast accuracy, and mission-aligned revenue mix—so the organization has real visibility into progress and tradeoffs.
  • Lead and coach business development. Guide the Senior Director, Business Development on pursuit planning, proposal strategy, pricing inputs, and close strategy, and provide executive engagement on new markets, strategic partnerships, and our most significant opportunities.
  • Champion innovation. Provide executive sponsorship for CDP Labs and our Innovation & Partnerships portfolio, guiding new fundraising, donor engagement, data, and technology services from discovery and validation through launch, adoption, and scale.
  • Tell CDP’s story. Partner with the VP, Innovation & Marketing so our value, differentiated capabilities, and impact come through clearly in marketing, thought leadership, conferences, and sales materials—helping CDP show up with a stronger, more coordinated presence across public media.
  • Grow meaningful partnerships. Cultivate strategic vendor and industry partnerships that bring distinctive value, sustainable economics, and strong outcomes for the organizations we serve.
  • Protect trust from pursuit to delivery. Define clear handoffs across growth, sales, onboarding, delivery, and client experience so that what we sell is what we deliver—and stay close to strategic engagements through early delivery.
  • Lead as an enterprise executive. Bring structure, clear decision rights, and a steady operating rhythm to growth work, while modeling CDP’s values of excellence, innovation, trust, and community.

Experience/Skills

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in growth, business development, sales, partnerships, go-to-market strategy, or revenue leadership, ideally in a mission-driven, professional services, nonprofit, public media, or technology-enabled services environment.
  • A track record of building or scaling a growth engine, including market strategy, demand generation, pipeline management, pricing, proposal development, and executive-level pursuits.
  • Experience leading an innovation or services portfolio from client discovery and validation through launch, partner management, and scale.
  • Experience setting B2B marketing direction and leading senior marketing leaders across brand, digital channels, thought leadership, conferences, content, and demand generation—with a clear sense of how marketing, sales enablement, and business development work best together.
  • Deep understanding of relationship-driven B2B or institutional sales, including complex buying groups, consultative selling, strategic partnerships, and long sales cycles where trust and mission alignment are central.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen, including comfort with revenue targets, forecasting, margin considerations, client acquisition cost, lifetime value, and opportunity assessment.
  • Proven experience managing senior leaders, establishing clear decision rights, and building trust across internal teams, clients, and industry partners.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and executive presence, with a talent for building structure and systems in a growing, evolving organization.

You’ll stand out if you bring: experience in public media, nonprofit fundraising, membership, donor development, or technology-enabled fundraising solutions, and a history of expanding into new markets while protecting brand trust and client relationships.

You’ll Thrive Here If You Are

  • Inclusive: You embrace an inclusion mindset and role model it for the organization.
  • A Communicator: You make complex growth, strategy, and market concepts clear and actionable.
  • A Critical Thinker: You test assumptions, find efficiencies, and look for ways to innovate and improve.
  • Process Oriented: You build and scale processes that help teams work with clarity and consistency.
  • A Collaborator: You build relationships across teams, share knowledge, and help others succeed.
  • Someone Who Seeks to Learn: You listen, learn quickly, stay resourceful, and welcome feedback.
  • Enterprising: You bring strong judgment and energy to a fast-paced, changing environment and are excited to add value to our mission.
