The Assistant Director is a financial aid professional with a primary responsibility for counseling students and parents about financial aid and educational financing options, and determining financial aid eligibility for institutional, federal, and state funds. The Assistant Director also administers selected aid programs and/or departmental functions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Perform need analysis and verification, determine eligibility, and award financial aid for a caseload of undergraduate and graduate students using both Institutional and Federal Methodology.
  • Advise students and parents about financial aid application processes; federal, state and institutional aid programs; and educational financing options.
  • Assist students and parents with financial planning for their program of study.
  • Serve as counselor-on-duty in a three-person rotation, assisting students in the areas of financial aid and financing options, as well as SFS services related to student accounts and payment options.    
  • Administer selected aid programs and/or departmental functions which may include:  federal and state grant programs; federal, state, and private loan programs; donor-funded scholarships; education abroad funding; coordinating award notifications; web and print publications; data analysis; federal work-study and campus employment; and reporting.
  • Participate in the College’s enrollment management efforts, including on-line and in-person student information sessions.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in federal Title IV and state financial aid programs.
  • Represent Babson’s mission, goals, and customer-service orientation in all work-related settings.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in financial aid administration.

Ability to succeed in a customer-oriented, team-based, technology-intensive work environment 

Ability to continuously expand knowledge of technology/tools supporting effective business processes.

Assist in reviewing business procedures and workflows to ensure data management systems (Powerfaids, Slate, and Workday) are being fully utilized

Must have excellent counseling, analytical, reporting, and communication skill

Must have excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Must have exceptional attention to detail.

Anticipates and embraces change; demonstrates willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

Hybrid schedule offered (after an initial training period) requiring a minimum of 3 days a week onsite (up to 2 days remote); the on-campus requirement is subject to modification based on organizational need. 

Some extended hours during orientation and for admission recruitment events are required.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

  • Experience with CSS PowerFAIDS and Institutional Methodology preferred.

This is an exempt position with the following pay range: $65,017 - $72,241; the role is also eligible for bonuses based on performance and budget.
