DEPARTMENT: Financial Aid

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Chief Financial Aid Officer


JOB SUMMARY:

Assist the Office of Financial Aid in the administration of all Federal, State and Institutional Financial Aid.  This is a 12-month full-time position with benefits.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years’ experience in financial aid.  Experience working in higher education required.  Superb organizational skills and attention to detail are mandatory.  Must be willing to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.  Must be capable of working independently as well as working in conjunction with others (including staff from Student Accounts and Admissions) to foster a team-oriented environment.  Initiative, problem solving capabilities and persistence required.  Colleague and Microsoft Office experience preferred.  The ideal candidate will be motivated and enthusiastic to learn and grow in this role and willing to gradually take on more responsibility.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Manage a caseload of undergraduate day students, including all undergraduate online and graduate students with respect to preparing awards, adjustments, need analysis, verification and counseling students and parents, if applicable.
  • Manage and reconcile the Massachusetts state grant programs
  • Perform exit interviews and perform analysis on average debt of graduating students
  • Certify and process all alternative student loans and  
  • Process all internal employee benefit programs
  • Aid the Chief Financial Officer in identifying students not meeting satisfactory academic progress, perform satisfactory academic progress review for financial aid recipients and coordinate and conduct financial aid appeals meetings.
  • Participate in open houses and accept student day events, which typically includes two to three weekend days a year.
  • Disburse financial aid as required for our undergraduate online and graduate students
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Chief Financial Aid Office

PHYSICAL JOB COMPONENTS:

  1. Light to moderate lifting of files, supplies, boxes of literature and office materials
  2. Able to use office and telecommunications equipment
  3. Walking is required, traveling may be expected at times
  4. Ability to communicate in writing and orally
