The Accounting Manager will support the Filtration Separation Division close process, financial reporting, ERP integration, and transition-related accounting activities as entities move into Thermo Fisher systems. This role will oversee accounting activities across multiple entities, ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and SOX controls, and directly supervise an accounting employee responsible for key financial statement areas, including revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accruals, and related balance sheet and income statement accounts.
The role will partner with regional finance teams, shared service center teams, auditors, and business partners to ensure timely, accurate, and well-controlled financial reporting. In addition to drive key transformation efforts, including post-acquisition integrations, ERP/system implementations, and remediation efforts
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the Filtration Separation Division close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, rollforwards, account reconciliations, and variance analyses across more than 10 entities.
- Directly supervise and develop an accounting employee responsible for revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accruals, reconciliations, and related close activities.
- Review work prepared by direct reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, proper support, and compliance with U.S. GAAP, Thermo Fisher accounting policies, and SOX controls.
- Collaborate with regional finance teams to ensure adherence to reporting schedules, accounting policies, and close deadlines.
- Establish new intercompany relationships and support accurate eliminations as sites move into Thermo Fisher systems.
- Work with E&Y and internal stakeholders to supervise the settlement process through the 24-month Transition Services Agreement period across 25 entities.
- Support external and internal audits by preparing and reviewing schedules, reconciliations, account analyses, and supporting documentation.
- Participate in ERP integrations as the business exits the TSA, including onboarding new entities, validating accounting processes, and transitioning appropriate tasks to the shared service center.
- Establish and maintain a governance process with Global Business Services (GBS) to support future-state ownership of Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) activities.
- Monitor key financial statement areas to identify unusual trends, accounting issues, process gaps, or control risks, and help resolve issues timely.
- Support ad-hoc internal, group, and Filtration Separation Division reporting requests.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and support standardization across entities.
- Work closely with business partners to identify and mitigate issues impacting achievement of business goals.
- Ensure business transactions are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, company policies, and SOX requirements.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems in situations with limited standardization.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including general ledger accounting, revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Ability to review accounting work, provide clear feedback, and coach accounting staff.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance priorities, manage workload, and complete projects on time.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal direction.
- Strong communication and business partnership skills across regional finance, Filtration Separation Division functions, auditors, and shared service center teams.
- Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and support sustainable solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required; Accounting degree preferred.
- 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a large, complex, multinational organization.
- Prior supervisory, team lead, or people management experience preferred.
- Strong expertise in General Ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
- Experience with revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accrual accounting, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
- Experience supporting audits and SOX controls.
- Experience with large-scale ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, JDE, or NetSuite preferred.
- ERP integration, acquisition integration, TSA, or shared service center transition experience preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $103,100.00–$154,700.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
