Bain Capital Private Equity Overview

Bain Capital Private Equity pioneered the value-added investment approach. We partner with management teams to help build and grow great companies. Our success is built on a highly rigorous approach utilizing deep industry/company insights and a significant investment in the resources and expertise to drive strategic and operational transformation at our companies.

Our global team, which now operates in eleven offices on four continents, has made more than 1,450 primary and add-on investments that have generated consistently strong returns. Collectively, more than 10 percent of our private equity funds’ commitments come from our professionals, far in excess of industry convention and reflective of both our strong principal investor mentality and confidence in our ability to generate industry-leading returns.

Private Equity Analyst-Associate Position Description

The Private Equity Full-time Analyst-Associate program is a three-year commitment with potential for a 4th year.  Spend your first two years as an Analyst, followed by 1-2 years as an Associate. This opportunity commences in July 2027 with an extensive, multi-week training program that is designed to introduce Bain Capital’s value-added investment approach. All Analysts start their careers in the Boston office.

The breadth of industries, the multiple types of investments, and the overall deal volume provide a unique opportunity for Analysts to gain significant experience in a short period of time.

Bain Capital professionals are exposed to a broad set of situations and companies, and systematically develop skills as a value-added investor -- not just a financial engineer. Analysts will learn how to evaluate investment opportunities through the application of fundamental strategic analysis in addition to the more traditional financial modeling.

Analysts may also be exposed to a variety of portfolio company issues (e.g. potential add-on investments, liquidity options, improving core operations) and will gain unique operating experience.

Candidates should have an excellent academic track record and strong quantitative, leadership and communication skills. The Private Equity Analyst-Associate opportunity is available only to students who are currently in an undergraduate program.

In addition to submitting your Workday application, we ask that you also complete this brief online assessment with our partners at the Predictive Index so that we can learn a bit more about your ability to process complex information.

***Note that we will not be able to consider you for interviews until we receive both your Workday application and Predictive Index assessments. ***

The assessment is broken-up into two sections – an untimed Behavioral Assessment, which measures work and communication needs, and a timed 12-minute Cognitive Assessment measuring a person’s capacity to learn, adapt and grasp new concepts. Please set aside a total of 15-20 undisturbed minutes to complete this. Once you complete the Behavioral Assessment, Predictive Index will email you a separate link to complete the timed Cognitive Assessment (this is a different link than the one above). Please check your spam folder if you do not immediately receive the second link or reach out to Sam Parlato with any questions. Feel free to check out this practice test which has been designed to familiarize you with the PI Cognitive Assessment process. Your answers to these sample questions do not affect your official PI Cognitive Assessment results.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with interviews starting in late July. Please submit your application no later than June 5 if you would like to be considered to attend recruiting events in New York City this summer. If you submit your application after that date, you will still be considered in our interview process. Please reach out to our team if you are experiencing any timing pressures and we will expedite review of your application.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
