Whether they consider themselves a “Figma fangirl” or a “Miro admirer,” every UX/UI designer can agree on one thing: no two workdays are ever the same.

When UX/UI designers aren’t collaborating with peers on their own team, they’re driving alignment with other departments, such as marketing and engineering, to bring their ideas to fruition. Oftentimes, the trickiest part about being a UX/UI designer is understanding how to make this teamwork as seamless and effective as possible.

For Morgan Hoose, a UX designer II at WHOOP, the answer lies in technology — and people. The self-proclaimed “Figma fangirl” has learned just how important it is to lean on reliable tools while seeking support from her teammates, whom she considers to be “supportive, hilarious and eager to learn from one another.”

With access to powerful tools and empowering peers, she feels motivated to deliver her best work while driving the company’s mission to empower individuals to better understand their bodies and improve their well-being.

“There’s a genuine sense of camaraderie that makes every challenge feel manageable and makes me excited to come to the office,” Hoose said.

Below, Hoose shares more about her day-to-day work as a UX designer II at WHOOP and why she loves her role.

About WHOOP

WHOOP’s wearable device measures physical exertion, stress levels, sleep and more, all of which can be tracked in the company’s mobile app. Customers can use the app to share this data with their healthcare providers, join teams to exchange insight with others and share their performance results on social media. There’s also an AI-powered feature called WHOOP Coach that uses personal data to give customers real-time insights regarding their performance.

What does an average day look like for you? What tasks do you work on, and what tools/practices do you employ to accomplish these tasks?

An average day at WHOOP is fast-paced, collaborative and highly rewarding. This role involves a level of collaboration unlike any of my previous experiences and has reshaped how I approach design within a larger ecosystem. From performance science to hardware and engineering, every team at WHOOP brings unique expertise to the table, and our combined efforts result in a higher quality product. I support multiple product managers, each with a distinct focus, which keeps my days interesting and involves constant learning — a variety that I really enjoy.

I am a huge Figma fangirl — unsurprisingly — and often pair it with AI tools like ChatGPT, Writer AI and Figma plugins to streamline my workflow. Early in a project, I dive into competitive analysis, gather inspiration or brainstorm using Mobbin and FigJam. As projects progress, I design and iterate in Figma, collaborating with my content designer and user researcher to refine solutions. In the final stages, I partner with visual design to polish files for developer handoff. I love how each phase of the design process is unique, offering the opportunity to blend creativity with strategic thinking to solve complex problems.

What’s your favorite aspect of your day-to-day work, and why?

The people I work with are hands-down my favorite part of my day. Our design team is a constant source of inspiration — everyone is supportive, hilarious and eager to learn from one another. I’ve never encountered egos on this team, only a shared desire to grow and do our best work. Shout out to our Head of UX Charlie Pino and his talent for building a team of people who genuinely care for one another.

Beyond my immediate design team, the passion and innovation across WHOOP is truly inspiring. As an AI-driven company at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, WHOOP leverages advanced tools to continue to push the speed and quality of our work. Everyone at WHOOP is a dedicated power user of our product, fueling a shared enthusiasm for our mission. It’s rewarding to design features that empower individuals to better understand their bodies and improve their well-being. We receive near-constant testimonials about how WHOOP has changed lives, and being a part of something so rooted in helping others reminds me every day about why I chose this career path.
