Introduction to JavaScript (4-Class Series), Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m.
Girl Develop It Boston is hosting a class on all things JavaScript. For the unfamiliar, JavaScript is one of the world's most popular programming languages because it's the primary way to build interaction on the web. Basically, it's the logical step after learning HTML/CSS. In this course, beginners will learn how to program with JavaScript, covering basic development concepts, as well as web animation and how to write your own JavaScript functions. Dive in and start coding.
deeplearn.js, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m.
Boston Machine Learning is hosting a presentation about deeplearn.js, Google's new open-source javascript machine learning library. The talk will cover everything from the systems that give users GPU acceleration in the browser to education applications and more. Key speakers will be Daniel Smilkov and Nikhil Thorat, software engineers at Google Brain, who are working on building tools to make interpreting and visualizing deep learning models easier. Food and drink will be provided.

Elasticsearch Boston Meetup at ezCater, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m.
Jeff Dwyer, a software engineer at ezCater is diving into Elastic Search to share with listeners how the company solved their caterer search problem using the tool. He will cover what makes their geo search interesting (as well as challenging), and will explain why the startup ended up moving metadata search to ElasticSearch after trying a few different methods. This talk will cover practices and techniques taken from various projects using Elasticsearch to index data from multiple enterprise systems and surface it for a large population of users.
January Meetup: Boston Ruby Women, Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
