At the following two Boston companies, the customer is continuously optimized.

While that may sound like a line from “Black Mirror,” what it actually equates to is innovative tech that improves the user experience. At Zaius, its customer data platform gives marketers the opportunity to execute personalized advertising campaigns to drive engagement. For seamless online experiences, LogRocket logs user interaction to find the root cause of performance bugs.

Both of these local companies have successfully raised Series B funding within the last two years, meaning significant hiring pushes in sales and engineering, and a focus on both upgrading and launching new software features.

Below, learn more about our featured companies of the month — Zaius and LogRocket — as well as their future strategies and the perks and benefits that help motivate employees to innovate.

zaius
ZAIUS

What they do: Founded in 2012, Zaius’ customer data platform offers e-commerce marketers a complete view of their customers’ journey, organizing every device, touchpoint and data source all in one place. From there, Zaius offers actionable insights and allows marketers to execute personalized campaigns in order to drive customer engagement and repeat purchases. Clients include AB InBev, Helix Sleep and Framebridge.

Perks and benefits: In 2020, Zaius was included in Built In’s Best Midsize Companies to Work For list and it’s no surprise why. “Giving employees opportunity and ownership is the foundation of every great business,” CEO Mark Gally said in a January 2020 press release. Culture-focused clubs allow for department representatives to share their wants, needs and suggestions for the whole company, and an unlimited vacation policy offers employees the opportunity to unplug and recharge.

Funding news: The company raised $30 million in Series B funding in April 2018. According to a statement, Zaius said they will use the funding to expand their platform functionality and develop its partner and developer ecosystem.

An emphasis on work-life balance: “My goal is to make sure that I’m always present when I’m with my family. I have to make sure I compartmentalize. When I’m working, I’m working. But when I’m not working, I try not to think about work,” CEO Mark Galley said in a 2017 interview on work-life balance.

Hiring: Zaius is growing its sales team and looking for a customer success manager.

logrocket
logrocket

What they do: When users experience an error on a website, it can be frustrating for developers to ask users to walk through what went wrong. Founded in 2016, LogRocket tracks user interaction, identifies UX problems and provides actionable insights for the client’s product and engineering team to fix bugs quickly.

Perks and benefits: Employees at LogRocket benefit from stock options, flexible work hours and unlimited PTO.

Funding news: In November 2019, the company raised $15 million in Series B funding. They plan to focus on employee growth and the launch of LogRocket Metrics, a front-end application performance management platform.

Looking for passionate teammates: “Every member of our team is passionate about LogRocket’s product, our customers and our mission of creating a more-perfect web experience for all,” CEO Matthew Arbesfeld said in a 2019 interview.

Hiring: Currently, LogRocket is looking for engineers, customer success managers and salespeople.
