Get your passport ready: These 4 startups will help you plan the perfect trip

Sick of Boston's chilly winter? If you feel the need to book a flight to escape the cold for a warmer climate, make sure you check out the following local travel tech startups first. From booking a hotel room, to finding the coolest tour guide, the following companies offer great resources to help you plan the perfect getaway.

Whether you’re interested in flying over the Grand Canyon in a helicopter or taking a surfing lesson on Bondi Beach, Cambridge-based PlacePass aims to be the travel tech company that gives you the hookup.

The startup currently offers more than 100,000 local tours, connecting travelers with cool activities wherever they go. PlacePass’ platform provides a metasearch service for in-destination experiences that range from cooking classes and hiking excursions to sumo-wrestling sessions.

Are you a frequent business traveler? Boston startup Lola has a new target customer: the road warrior (i.e. a person who travels for business 10 to 20 times per year).

The travel tech startup originally focused on providing a travel concierge app for consumers but recently made a pivot with the launch of its new app, Lola 2.0.

Described as the "ultimate app" for business travelers, Lola 2.0 takes many of the features baked into Lola’s consumer version (including the ability to message with live travel agents) and makes business travel a piece of cake. In addition to a personal assistant who’s on call 24/7, the new app also features a personalized search engine and direct booking integration.

Taking photos of your epic trip to Peru is awesome, but what if you could bring your friends and family into a 360-immersive experience of Machu Picchu? That’s one of the goals of Everyscape, a Newton-based startup that offers an online building and mapping service that allows users to view and create panoramic 3D images from locations all over the world. Using a smartphone, computer or panoramic camera, you can use Everyscape to build a 3D scape that can be shared with anyone at any time.
