Web Developer – ColdFusion/CFML

Position Summary
Aptive Resources is seeking an experienced Web Developer to support VHA ORD's HSR and CIDER programs.
The Web Developer will develop, enhance, maintain, test, and troubleshoot secure intranet-based applications that provide VA researchers and administrators access to HSR data, tools, modules, and reports. This position is particularly well suited for a developer with ColdFusion/CFML and Microsoft SQL Server experience who is comfortable maintaining and improving established production applications rather than focusing solely on new application development.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, upgrade, and enhance complex web-based applications.
- Develop and maintain applications using ColdFusion/CFML and associated web technologies.
- Integrate front-end web applications with Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Write clean, maintainable, testable code.
- Develop and modify SQL queries and stored procedures supporting web applications.
- Test application changes for functionality, accuracy, reliability, and performance.
- Debug and resolve application and database integration issues.
- Coordinate implementation and release of new and updated web applications.
- Troubleshoot problems resulting from changes to the VA IT environment.
- Identify and recommend enhancements that improve navigation, usability, and application operation.
- Work collaboratively with the Data Modeler, other developers, VA technical personnel, and HSR/ORD stakeholders.
- Respond promptly to production issues, alerts, and quick-turn technical requests.
- Develop and maintain application and technical documentation.
- Explain technical issues and recommended solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Support ad hoc projects and special technical requirements as requested.
- 4–5 years of SQL database administration and programming experience.
- Demonstrated web application development and maintenance experience.
- Experience integrating web applications with relational databases.
- Experience developing SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Experience testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and maintaining production applications.
- Understanding of secure web-development practices, including cross-site scripting prevention and remediation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical personnel.

- Hands-on development experience with ColdFusion/CFML.

- ColdFusion Server administration.
- Dreamweaver or another integrated development environment (IDE).
- PL/SQL/SQL Server experience, including queries and stored procedures.
- Previous VA/VHA or federal healthcare application-support experience.
