About Blitzy

Blitzy is a Cambridge, MA based rapidly scaling AI startup. The Blitzy Platform is an autonomous software development platform designed for the enterprise.

We're backed by multiple tier 1 investors, have success as founders at the last start-up, and dozens of Generative AI patents to our names.

Blitzy enables development teams to transform six-month software projects into six-day turnarounds using the Blitzy Platform, an agentic platform that enables thousands of AI Agents to ‘think’ and cooperate for hours to bulk build software with precision. The platform precisely builds everything AI can deliver, typically 80% of any feature set or new product, while providing a human engineering guide listing the final 20% of tasks to get to production. With over 27 patents and counting, Blitzy is actively hiring in Cambridge, MA.

Compensation: Total Comp $300K-$350K, plus equity

Location: One Kendall Square, Cambridge MA 02139 (In-person role)

About the Role

We are looking for a Vice President of Engineering to lead, scale, and evolve Blitzy’s engineering organization while remaining deeply hands-on in our development stack.
You will report directly to our Co-Founder & CTO and play a central role in shaping the company’s engineering culture, delivery velocity, and technical standards as we expand our platform capabilities and enterprise footprint.

Blitzy’s SDLC is unique — we use Blitzy to build Blitzy.
Our AI-native development platform powers its own evolution, meaning every engineer contributes not only to product features, but to the system that writes, tests, and optimizes those features. The VP of Engineering will embrace this recursive development loop — guiding teams that collaborate daily with AI agents, code-generation models, and Blitzy’s orchestration layer to accelerate delivery and learning.

What Success Looks Like
  • You lead a high-performance engineering organization that ships with speed, quality, and autonomy.
  • You stay hands-on, actively participating in code reviews, architecture sessions, and technical design.
  • You champion our “Blitzy builds Blitzy” ethos across every workflow.
  • You establish clear performance management systems — setting measurable goals, running effective 1:1s, and conducting structured reviews.
  • You ensure engineering excellence through rigorous code review, testing, and quality control.
  • You partner closely with Product, Field, and Customer Success to align engineering execution with customer outcomes.
  • You work shoulder-to-shoulder with the Co-Founder & CTO to evolve velocity, reliability, and AI-system performance.
  • You build a culture of clarity, speed, and creative technical excellence.
Areas of Ownership
  • Lead and scale all engineering functions — Product Engineering, Platform, AI Systems, and DevOps.
  • Build, mentor, and grow high-performing teams that use Blitzy’s own AI agents to accelerate development.
  • Enhance a formal performance management process, including quarterly reviews, feedback loops, and career leveling frameworks.
  • Run regular engineering 1:1s, ensuring personal growth and alignment across the org.
  • Establish standards for code reviews, documentation quality, testing, and release readiness.
  • Partner with Product and Field CTO to ensure platform capabilities align with enterprise requirements.
  • Implement data-driven continuous improvement using Blitzy’s internal metrics (e.g., autonomy %, lines converted, hours saved).
  • Recruit exceptional talent who thrive in AI-augmented software development environments.
  • Remain actively involved in technical work — contributing to design discussions, pull requests, and architecture validation.
Ways to Stand Out
  • Proven success leading engineering teams in AI, developer tools, or enterprise software.
  • Hands-on expertise in AI code generation, retrieval architectures, or developer-productivity platforms.
  • Demonstrated success implementing performance management frameworks, code-quality standards, and team-scaling systems.
  • Experience managing teams where AI systems contribute directly to production codebases.
  • Background in both early-stage scaling (0→1) and high-growth execution (1→N).
  • Deep understanding of LLM frameworks, fine-tuning, and evaluation metrics for AI-native SDLC systems.
  • Passion for recursive engineering — building a platform that builds itself.
You’ll Get …
  • Competitive Salary + Annual Bonus
  • Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance for you and dependents
  • 4% 401(k) match
  • Equity
  • Flexible vacation days, sick days, and work-from-home days
  • Technology allowance (hardware, software, reading materials, etc.)
  • The opportunity to re-shape the future of software creation by helping Blitzy build Blitzy
  • Beautiful office environment in Cambridge Crossing surrounded by other startups
  • Unlimited snacks, fizzy water, coffee, espresso, and everything you need to perform at your best
Culture

Who We Are: Our founding team includes a Serial Gen AI Inventor and a Serial Entrepreneur. We move fast, think deeply, and maintain a low-ego, high-output ethos.

We make fast “two-way door” decisions — a good decision today beats a perfect one next week.
We believe in being “everyday athletes”: good sleep, movement, and focus drive creativity and resilience.
We are building a product that builds itself — and that mindset runs through every line of code.

What We Ask of You

Startups are challenging and constantly evolving. What you work on week to week will shift as we grow. If that excites you — not concerns you — you’re in the right place.

We operate in-person and collaboratively. You’ll work alongside talented peers, but we won’t have all the answers — and that’s part of the adventure. The VP of Engineering brings clarity, structure, and hands-on leadership that scales both people and AI systems.

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
