About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled VistA SME to join our fast-growing IT-project based consulting business. The VistA SME will play a crucial role in implementing and supporting the AMPL project. The ideal candidate will possess functional and technical expertise with VistA, including familiarity with its myriad menu items and data structures, how external applications integrate with it, and how VistA impacts testing of other systems. Our subject matter expert will utilize their passion and VistA expertise to modernize the Veteran Pharmacy experience and help Veterans get the care that they need.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

You will work and collaborate on a team of project managers, business analysts, developers/engineers, and QA staff within an Agile DevSecOps environment. As a crucial member of our team, you will also be expected to interface with client representatives. Our team member will: 

• Work closely with the development team to understand the unique technical challenges and business requirements related to VistA interoperability and integrations. 
• Identify and create data sets that will support validation of AMPL functionality and ensure data interoperability with VistA. 
• Document integrations between AMPL and VistA, including relevant mappings. 
• Provide insights to the development team regarding how VistA is used by clinicians. 
• Provide insights to the development team regarding how VistA’s technical environment drives design, development, integration, and testing decisions for programs like Health Connect. 
• Design and document comprehensive test scenarios and plans for AMPL modules based on the unique technical constraints of VistA. 
• Define user stories for the AMPL backlog that will improve functionality, performance, and stability of AMPL product, based on the unique data, functional, and interoperability requirements of VistA. 
• Provide specialized knowledge on VistA testing methodologies, contributing to overall quality assurance efforts. 
• Collaborate with the technical team and project stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve integration challenges.

Minimum Qualifications

• In depth understanding of VistA functionality.  
• Good understanding of VistA technical environment and associated constraints. 
• Ability to learn quickly with a proven track record of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
• Experience in data mapping, translation, and validation within healthcare or similar environments. 
• Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs and VistA. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential issues from a testing perspective. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Custom user interfaces, specifically with testing, requirement gathering, and/or configuration 
• Experience supporting the integration and/or interoperability of low code/no code systems, such as AMPL, and VistA 
• Active Public Trust
