Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Vice President of Product Strategy and Innovation to lead our product strategy and drive the development of cutting-edge health insurance solutions. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of market dynamics and a proven track record of successful product innovation and market launch.
The Vice President of Product Strategy and Innovation will facilitate end-to-end go-to-market activities for new health plan product and solution identification, evaluation, and launch. They will provide support for all commercial markets, products, and specialty. This role serves as the intersection between the Product operations team and internal/external partners, stakeholders, and support staff in areas such as marketing, operations, sales enablement, and sales. This leader is responsible for effectively communicating the features, benefits, and unique selling proposition of products and services to achieve targeted business goals. The leader will work directly with key strategic business partners (both internal and external) to identify and leverage new capabilities and products as part of our ongoing product development lifecycle. This position is accountable for membership acquisition and retention goals through developing and/or executing effective product sales strategy and tactics, channel management and support, product training, and the ongoing management and coordination of retention and communication touch points across each market.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing:

  • Develop and execute a multi-year product strategy that aligns with the company's vision and goals.
  • Analyze market trends and dynamics to identify opportunities for product innovation.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an innovation process to foster creativity and drive new product development.
  • Collaborate across the healthcare ecosystem to identify opportunities and develop strategic partnerships.
  • Work collaboratively across the enterprise to identify and execute opportunities for product enhancements and new solutions.
  • Build and maintain a robust product pipeline, ensuring successful implementation of new products and solutions.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the product innovation team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and state markets to understand and effectively communicate the features, benefits, and unique selling proposition of products and services.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing collateral, sales support materials, internal sales trainings, and external presentations to brokers, employer groups, consultants, and others with the goal of accurate representation both internally and externally.
  • As a senior business partner across the organization, develop go-to-market strategies for the commercial and specialty business.
  • Collaborate with Sales to deliver relevant Sales tools to accelerate membership acquisition and support retention efforts.
  • Responsible for product launch sales distribution strategies.
  • Catalog the critical business needs of our clients and members, leveraging competitive data and bringing innovative new market entries to drive a new way of thinking about healthcare products and services.

Qualifications – what you need to perform the job

Education, Certification and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Health Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Experience (minimum years required):

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in the health insurance industry, at least five years of experience in a strategy/innovation role

Skill Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing multi-year product strategies.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics and the ability to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Proven track record of building and implementing successful innovation processes.
  • Experience working with solution partners and developing strategic partnerships.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Working Conditions and Additional Requirements (include special requirements, e.g., lifting, travel):

  • Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.
  • Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.
  • May be required to work additional hours beyond standard work schedule.
