Company Overview

Tango Therapeutics is a biotechnology company dedicated to discovering novel drug targets and delivering the next generation of precision medicine for the treatment of cancer.

Using an approach that starts and ends with patients, Tango leverages the genetic principle of synthetic lethality to discover and develop therapies that take aim at critical targets in cancer.

This includes expanding the universe of precision oncology targets into novel areas such as tumor suppressor gene loss and their contribution to the ability of cancer cells to evade immune cell killing.

The Tango labs and offices are located at 201 Brookline Avenue, in the Fenway area of Boston, Massachusetts.

Summary

As Tango transitions into a fully integrated, commercial-stage biopharmaceutical organization, the Vice President of Marketing and Sales will serve as a core pillar of the Commercial Leadership Team. By combining the rigorous, scaled commercial discipline of large, established pharmaceutical organizations with the agility and entrepreneurial spirit of a fast-paced biotech, this leader will build a high-impact, scientifically driven commercial organization. Success in this role requires exceptional cross-functional leadership, guiding overarching corporate strategy, and ensuring seamless integration across commercial, scientific, and operational domains.

Your Role:

  • Regulatory & Development Partnership: Collaborate closely with Clinical Development and Regulatory Affairs to inform clinical trial designs, shape Target Product Profiles (TPPs), and align on label negotiation strategies and post-approval lifecycle management
  • Cross-Functional Synergy: Build seamless, highly collaborative partnerships across Medical Affairs, Market Access, Finance, and Corporate Communications to ensure unified product positioning and a cohesive narrative across all stakeholder touchpoints
  • Commercial Architecture: Design and scale the foundational marketing and sales infrastructure from the ground up, transitioning the organization from clinical-stage to commercial readiness while maintaining a lean, high-performing culture

Marketing Strategy & Brand Leadership

  • Brand & Disease State Positioning: Lead the development of compelling disease awareness campaigns, scientific narratives, and pre-launch brand positioning that clearly communicate the value of our precision oncology assets
  • Omnichannel Strategy: Direct the creation of a robust, data-driven digital and non-personal engagement model tailored to the specific behaviors and preferences of medical oncologists and academic centers
  • Market Insight & Competitive Intelligence: Drive comprehensive market research initiatives to anticipate shifts in the oral oncology landscape, deeply understand patient journeys, and continuously refine commercial strategy based on real-time data

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Field Force Architecture: Define the optimal field force sizing, territory alignment, and deployment strategy for a highly specialized oncology sales team
  • Launch Readiness: Drive the operational and strategic readiness of the sales organization, ensuring rigorous training and certification of the field team on the complex science behind biomarker-driven treatments
  • Customer Engagement: Cultivate and maintain executive-level relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), academic oncology networks, and major community oncology practices to drive scientific share of voice

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business discipline required; MBA or advanced scientific degree (PharmD, PhD) strongly preferred
  • 20+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with a mandatory blend of experience in large, established pharmaceutical organizations (best practices, scale, strategic rigor) and biotech environments (agility, foundational buildout, resource optimization)

Core Competencies

  • Oncology Expertise: Deep expertise in the oncology market is required, with a strong track record of launching and commercializing oral oncology and precision/biomarker-driven therapies
  • Enterprise Mindset: Demonstrated ability to think beyond the commercial function, understanding the complexities of drug development, regulatory pathways, and corporate finance to drive holistic company success
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven experience successfully partnering with R&D, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs in a highly matrixed, science-first environment
  • Culture & Team Building: Exceptional track record of attracting, developing, and retaining top-tier commercial talent while fostering a collaborative, patient-centric, and performance-driven culture
