Position Overview

Homans Associates (HA) is a subsidiary of the largest independent HVAC/R distribution company in the world, Watsco, Inc. We proudly distribute the Mitsubishi, Armstrong and Bryant brands of HVAC equipment, as well as a full line of HVAC residential and commercial parts, supplies, and accessories. We have locations throughout New England, New York, and New Jersey.

The Vice President of Finance and Accounting is responsible for driving the performance and growth of Homans Associates through strategic collaboration with internal teams, vendors and customers. This position serves as a key resource for Homans CEO and Division Presidents as well as key liaison to parent company Watsco Inc.

Responsibilities of the Vice President Finance and Accounting:

  • Actively work with Homans CEO and division president’s and vice presidents to create and execute operational strategies.
  • Lead the accounting, finance and HR functions to develop functional excellence within the organization. Key functions include general ledger reporting, financial planning, accounts receivable, sales tax management and auditing. Manage a staff of financial and accounting professionals.
  • Work closely with HR, payroll, safety and training teams to manage bi-weekly payroll, PTO, Branch audits and employee training and development.
  • Manage vendor rebate receivable, customer chargeback receivables, costing and pricing processes.
  • Direct the development of budget and forecast plans at the branch, division, corporate and Watsco levels.
  • Act as a key liaison and manager to the accounting shared services organization responsible for accounts payable, tax filings, general ledger reconciliation and monthly management reporting including all balance sheet and P&L accounts.
  • Manage the process for new branch locations by providing financial analysis and providing leadership in the process procuring equipment, vehicles and furniture and fixtures.
  • Develop the company’s internal reporting system to inform management of the Company’s financial position and performance against prior periods and budget.
  • Oversea internal control environment to ensure the safeguarding of Company assets.
  • Key points of contact for Watsco related to company initiatives, insurance information, federal tax requirements and internal and external audit.
