We’re seeking an exceptional Vice President of Engineering to strategically grow and lead our world-class engineering team.
As the VP of Engineering, you'll partner directly with our CTO to lead the technical vision, innovation, and delivery of high-impact AI products shaping the future of defense logistics. You’ll build and manage a high-performing engineering team, develop robust and scalable infrastructure, and ensure alignment with strategic business goals. This role is central to our executive team and will significantly influence Tagup’s technology roadmap and growth trajectory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Vision & Leadership: Guide the technical execution across engineering and data science teams to ensure alignment with product goals and long-term scalability.
- Team Building & Management: Mentor, develop, and manage Engineering Team Leads, fostering an environment of collaboration, accountability, and continuous professional growth.
- Execution & Delivery: Ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality software products that align with timelines and specifications, balancing rapid innovation with strict technical standards..
- Strategic Hiring & Talent Development: Expand the engineering team through strategic hiring, effective onboarding, and thoughtful organizational design. Help establish clear career paths and performance metrics.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with Product, Design, Deployment, and Data Science teams to ensure smooth transitions and efficient execution across functions.
- Process & Quality: Develop and refine engineering processes, including sprint planning, code reviews, release management, testing, and incident response.
- Strategic Input: Act as a thought partner to the CTO in defining the company’s technology vision, making architectural decisions, and mapping out the long-term engineering roadmap.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure that systems are built and maintained with a strong focus on security and compliance with customer requirements (e.g., government, DoD, etc.).
What You Bring:
- Technical Leadership: 10+ years in engineering roles with at least 5 years at the Director or VP level, demonstrating success in scaling high-performance teams in fast-paced, growth-focused organizations.
- Deep Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS), modern web application architectures, data-driven solutions, and infrastructure.
- Hands-On Coding Ability: Proficiency in Python and SQL, comfortable guiding and reviewing production-level code.
- AI/ML Experience: Background working with AI-driven applications, real-time analytics, or optimization technologies strongly preferred.
- Outstanding Communication: Exceptional ability to engage stakeholders, articulate complex ideas clearly, and effectively communicate technical vision to executives and partners.
- Defense Tech Background: Experience with dual-use (commercial and government) products or defense logistics platforms is highly desirable, though not required.
