The Test Department's role is to identify all issues within our products before we launch them. As such, the Project Management Test Engineer (PMTE) will play a key role in helping us evaluate whether our products meet the high demands of our consumers from both a hardware and software perspective. The position focuses on employing existing tests while determining the gaps that require developing new tests. By standing as the voice of the consumer, it will be the PMTE's job to ensure no stone is left unturned with the product's performance, reliability, and safety. There is a high degree of interaction with the Engineering and Product Development teams in this role, which will require the PMTE to stand firm for the quality of the product while challenging cross-functional design assumptions.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze testing data to challenge the direction of projects to ensure consumer satisfaction using statistical methods.
  • Support workstreams of various categories within the NPD Testing Team to Create a Competitive Advantage by Ensuring the Necessary Tests are in Place, Executed, and Reported Out to Fulfill All Identified Consumer Needs
  • Identify and work with internal/external SMEs across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Create thorough test plans with documented requirements to evaluate consumer needs.
  • Expand the line of communication with the broader team members (All cross-functional teams)
  • Challenge cross-functional team to ensure product specifications are up to date per program.
  • Build communication with Suzhou and Alabama testing teams through test plans/actions.
  • Develop a robust and knowledgeable voice for testing within the NPD Group
  • Drive the development of Design Quality Test Plans using various processes (DFMEA findings, return drivers, and consumer insights/learnings) for assigned categories."
  • Drive the team to develop protocols and DQTPs to support NPD cycles.
  • Prepare and clearly present your work at status meetings.

Requirements
  • BSEE, BSME, or similar technical discipline major
  • Product test engineering experience (including internship experience)
  • Prior experience designing electromechanical systems.
  • Data analysis and prior exposure to test procedures are a plus.
  • Effectively communicate within the department
  • Experience in the areas of statistical principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication to create reports, write business correspondence, & develop procedures.
  • Change agent with energy, passion, and enthusiasm to drive change.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills
  • Ability to multi-task and handle tasks with competing priorities effectively
