Job Summary:

The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for driving specification influence, technical adoption, territory development, and sales growth through direct engagement with architects, consultants, building owners, contractors, distributors, and sales representatives. This customer-facing role combines consultative selling, technical expertise, project support, and strategic business development to promote Carlisle SynTec Systems and achieve regional sales objectives. Approximately 80% of the role is focused on direct customer engagement, project influence, and territory development activities, while the remaining 20% is dedicated to technical training, Territory Development Plan (TDP) activities, professional development, new product growth initiatives, and internal collaboration. The position involves regular travel throughout the assigned territory, including overnight stays, with occasional weekend travel required to attend industry events, regional meetings, and other business-related activities.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, consultants, building owners, contractors, distributors, and independent representatives to influence specifications, support project development, and drive product adoption.
  • Regularly travel throughout the assigned territory to promote Carlisle, identify project opportunities, and support strategic business growth initiatives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver AIA-approved or AIA-aligned presentations, lunch-and learns, hands-on demonstrations, classroom training, virtual learning sessions, and field-based educational programs for architects, consultants, contractors, distributors, and other construction professionals.
  • Engage engineering and design consultants by providing technical data, testing information, code compliance guidance, and application recommendations to support proper system selection.
  • Work directly with building owners and end users to present solutions focused on performance, durability, lifecycle value, sustainability, and return on investment.
  • Partner with contractors and distributors to support product selection, project execution, application best practices, pre-construction planning, and successful installation outcomes.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and construction documents to ensure appropriate product selection and identify opportunities for specification influence.
  • Collaborate with Sales Support, Technical Services, Product Management, and Regional Sales leadership to secure project opportunities and support customer needs.
  • Assist customers with pricing requests, submittal packages, product substitutions, system recommendations, warranty information, code approvals, and project specific technical documentation.
  • Provide project follow-up support including specifications, drawings, samples, technical literature, application guidance, and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Track presentation activity, specification opportunities, project influence efforts, and territory performance using CRM and reporting systems.
  • Facilitate Territory Development Plan (TDP) activities, including strategic planning, growth initiatives, monthly sustainment calls, and professional development objectives.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing education programs for sales teams, distributors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with new product launches and market development initiatives by educating customers on product benefits, applications, competitive advantages, and market opportunities.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, association meetings, and professional development activities to strengthen customer relationships and remain informed of market trends.
  • Provide regular territory reports, activity summaries, and market intelligence to management regarding project opportunities, competitive activity, and territory performance.
  • Serve as a liaison between building owners, architects, consultants, contractors, distributors, and internal stakeholders to support project success.
  • Stay current on building codes, industry standards, construction practices, competitive products, and emerging market trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of building materials, roofing systems, construction methods, and
  • architectural specifications.
  • Understanding of specification-driven sales processes and project influence

  • Strong relationship-building, consultative selling, and business development skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in creating and delivering professional training and educational programs.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical

  • Knowledge of CRM platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and virtual collaboration tools.
  • Working knowledge of CAD platforms and construction-related software.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to translate technical information into practical customer solutions.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote and highly autonomous environment.
  • Ability to travel extensively and effectively manage a multi-state territory.

Education and Experience:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering,
    • Architecture, or a related technical field.
    • Minimum five (5) years of experience in construction, manufacturing, technical
    • sales, building envelope systems, or related industries.
    • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with company
  • Preferred:
    • Experience delivering AIA-approved continuing education presentations.
    • Commercial roofing or building envelope experience.
    • Experience supporting architectural specifications and consultant engagement.
    • Experience working with distributors, contractors, and manufacturer representative
    • Working knowledge of CAD software and construction documentation.

Working Conditions:

 This position typically operates during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional flexibility may be required to accommodate meetings across time zones or address critical business needs. The employee is expected to comply with all company policies, including those related to data security, confidentiality, acceptable use of technology, and remote work standards.


This is a fully remote professional position. The incumbent is expected to maintain a dedicated, secure, and ergonomically appropriate home office environment with reliable high-speed internet connectivity. This role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining regular communication with colleagues and stakeholders through virtual collaboration tools.


Extensive travel is required throughout the assigned territory, including customer visits, project meetings, training events, trade shows, and industry functions. Occasionally overnight travel and weekend work may be required for team meetings, training sessions, or special company-sponsored events, with advance notice provided. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the company’s travel and expense policy.
