About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and proficient Technical Lead Developer to oversee the design, development, and delivery of Policy Administration Systems (PAS) and related insurance technology initiatives. This role will lead cross-functional development teams, manage technical resources, develop new features and capabilities in the system, and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, regulatory requirements, and business goals. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance systems, hands-on technical skills, and a proven ability to drive complex projects from concept to execution—while fostering innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence across the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Architect, develop, and implement PAS solutions supporting the full policy lifecycle: rating, underwriting, billing, claims, forms, and reporting.
  • Configure and extend PAS platforms (e.g., Origami, Duck Creek, Guidewire) to meet evolving business needs.
  • Manage teams of developers, analysts, and technical resources across multiple platforms.
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring timely delivery, code quality, and architectural integrity.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance in JavaScript, SQL, JSON, and other core technologies as needed.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate insurance domain requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
  • Contribute to enterprise technology strategy, modernization efforts, and platform scalability initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and no/low code platforms to streamline development and accelerate delivery.
  • Partner with product owners, business analysts, QA teams, and external vendors to align technical execution with business objectives.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies and ensure adherence to Agile, Scrum, or SAFe methodologies.
  • Enforce coding standards, design patterns, and development best practices across teams.
  • Conduct code reviews, performance assessments, and provide technical mentorship.
  • Perform root cause analysis on system issues and implement durable, scalable fixes.
  • Continuously optimize system performance, reliability, and user experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, SQL, modern front-end frameworks, and modern programming languages, with strong architectural and design capabilities.
  • Strong expertise in RESTful APIs, Webhooks, and JSON-based data exchange, enabling seamless integration across platforms.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, including deployment strategies, resource management, and scalability planning.
  • Proficient in CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps, with a focus on automation, testing, and release management.
  • Expert-level understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe) and the software development lifecycle (SDLC), with proven success delivering enterprise-grade solutions.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Experience with low-code/no-code platforms, including their integration into enterprise ecosystems for rapid solution delivery.
  • Hands-on experience with Policy Administration Systems (PAS) such as Origami, Duck Creek, or Guidewire, including configuration, extension, and workflow optimization.
  • 10+ years of experience in full-stack software development, with 5+ years in leadership, mentoring, or technical management role.
  • 5+ years of domain experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance, with deep understanding of insurance workflows and regulatory considerations

Preferred Qualification

  • Advanced proficiency in additional programming languages and frameworks (e.g., .NET, Python, React, Angular).
  • Experience with modular and microservice-based architecture, including containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native development and deployment using Microsoft Azure or AWS.
  • Experience implementing and supporting Underwriting Workbenches and automated submission ingestion workflows.
  • Full policy lifecycle experience across policy, billing, and claims systems.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns and API management.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, data modeling, and ETL processes.
  • Certification in relevant technologies, platforms, or Agile methodologies (e.g., Azure Developer Associate, SAFe Agilist).
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed or multi-vendor environment.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence strategic decisions
