Lazer is seeking a Technical Architect to lead the technical implementation of Shopify projects, crafting seamless user experiences and robust back-end solutions. As a Technical Architect on this team, you will support Lazer’s engineers in building products across our entire portfolio of clients and across every part of the Shopify stack (online, POS, etc.). You will work closely with key clients stakeholders, lead 2-3 projects, and have tremendous impact in supporting the engineers on the team to make sure execution is solid. You will also be a part of the strongest Shopify-focused engineering team in the market, and work closely with like-minded engineers who help each other continuously grow.
Lazer is a remote organization. We welcome applications from all across the globe but our preferred candidates’ working hours must have substantial overlap with our clients, who primarily reside in Eastern or Pacific Timezone (EST or PST).
Responsibilities:

Lead technical discovery with clients to gather requirements and define technical solutions

Design complex architecture solutions for Shopify storefronts, apps, and custom integrations

Architect and oversee migration projects between platforms or within Shopify ecosystems
-
Design integration solutions between Shopify and enterprise systems (ERP, OMS, CMS)
-
Develop technical specifications, solution blueprints, and implementation plans
-
Provide hands-on development support for critical or complex components (30% coding)

Guide and mentor development teams throughout project implementation

Create accurate scopes, timelines, and resource requirements for Shopify projects
-
Stay current with Shopify platform updates and evolving e-commerce technologies

Present technical solutions and progress to clients in clear, non-technical terms
Technical Requirements:
-
5+ years experience with Shopify platform architecture, APIs, and custom development
-
Proven expertise developing Shopify Apps using Remix or NextJS frameworks

Experience leading technical discovery phases and creating detailed technical specifications

Track record managing complex data migration projects and enterprise system integrations

Advanced proficiency with React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and headless commerce architectures

Strong database design skills with PostgreSQL and experience with Prisma ORM

Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Experience translating business requirements into comprehensive technical solutions

Proven ability to scope, estimate, and plan complex technical projects

Experience balancing technical excellence with business priorities and timelines
