The Tax Accountant supports the firm’s tax compliance, tax accounting, and payment processes across U.S. federal, state, local, and international jurisdictions. This role is responsible for preparing and maintaining tax-related workpapers and schedules, processing tax payments, reconciling general ledger accounts, supporting return preparation and filings, and ensuring tax information is accurate, timely, well-documented, and handled in accordance with firm policies and confidentiality standards.

What You Will Do:

  • Prepare and maintain tax workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation for U.S. federal, state, local, and international tax compliance, including estimated payments, extensions, tax returns, informational filings, and related reporting requirements.

  • Process tax payments to multiple jurisdictions, including coordinating payment requests, tracking deadlines, confirming remittance details, and maintaining evidence of payment.

  • Reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts; research and resolve variances and ensure balances are supported by appropriate documentation.

  • Support U.S. federal, state, and international tax return compliance by gathering data, preparing analyses, reviewing source information, and coordinating with internal stakeholders and external advisors.

  • Process partner tax withholdings, composite payments, credits, and related partner tax reporting schedules.

  • Assist with state and local sales and use tax, property tax, and other indirect tax filings for applicable jurisdictions.

  • Maintain confidentiality of partner, employee, client, and firm information and follow established internal controls and documentation standards.

  • Monitor changes in tax processes, technology, and compliance requirements; participate in educational opportunities to remain current and improve team effectiveness.

  • Prepare tax-related journal entries and maintain accurate records in the firm’s financial systems.

  • Support the preparation of information for external federal, state, local, and foreign tax audits and inquiries.

  • Prepare and maintain partnership accounting schedules and tax compliance.

  • Identify opportunities to improve tax compliance workflows, documentation, controls, and use of technology.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field.

  • At least three years of relevant accounting or tax department experience, preferably in a professional services, partnership, or multi-jurisdictional environment.

  • Experience with tax payments, account reconciliations, compliance calendars, and preparation of support for federal, state, local, or international tax filings preferred.

  • Exposure to partnership taxation and partner-level tax reporting preferred.

  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research discrepancies and recommend practical resolutions.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines across multiple jurisdictions and workstreams.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and strong documentation practices.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong comfort working with financial systems, tax compliance tools, payment platforms, and workflow technology.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with Finance, Tax, Legal, and external advisors.

  • Professional, dependable, collaborative, and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize competing assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
