Job Description

The Systems Administrator supports Nearmap employees by maintaining ICT systems and providing hands-on IT support under the direction of senior IT staff. Responsibilities span hardware, software, mobile devices, and core systems. This is a contractor role focused on operational support and execution within established processes and frameworks. The role does not carry ownership of compliance, vendor strategy, or architectural decisions. 

Qualifications

  • Support monitoring of availability and uptime of corporate systems (e.g. routers, switches, phones, firewalls, cloud components, workstations, laptops) — escalate issues to senior IT staff as required 

  • Manage internal applications (e.g. AD, Office 365, Jira, Confluence, Okta) including access management 

  • Maintain physical office infrastructure, including setup of workstations and desk moves as directed by management 

  • Work within established security practices aligned to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (e.g. Data Loss Prevention, Event Logging, Mobile Policies, Firewall Policies) — not responsible for defining or adopting new practices 

  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of work instructions and internal procedures 

  • Aid senior members of the team where needed  

  • Responding to desktop support requests from employees face-to-face and remotely. 

  • Provide general support - 1st and 2nd level for IT systems. 

  • Use Nearmap standard IT tools to track work. 

Additional Information

  • OS experience across: Linux, Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS 

  • Exposure to scripting languages — Bash, PowerShell 

  • Office 365, Active Directory (incl. Group Policy and administration) 

  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure — AWS or similar 

  • Networking and firewall fundamentals 

  • Strong customer service skills 

  • Strong awareness of Data Security 

  • Strong technical documentation skills 

  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the business
