Karen Clark & Company (KCC) is seeking talented structural engineering professionals to join our growing team of catastrophe model developers. In this role, you will collaborate closely with scientists and engineers to enhance our global suite of advanced catastrophe models.

Expected Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain building vulnerability models for a variety of natural hazards, including earthquakes, hurricanes, wildfires, floods, winter storms, and severe convective storms.
  • Conduct post-event damage surveys for natural disasters around the world, analyze collected data, and present findings and insights internally and to clients.
  • Stay current with building codes and construction practices across the United States and internationally.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze catastrophe loss data.
  • Perform validation tests on model-generated loss estimates.
  • Prepare technical documentation and deliver presentations related to scientific models and findings.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering required; PhD preferred.
  • Practical experience with building design, construction techniques, or forensic engineering required.
  • Experience conducting post-disaster surveys following natural catastrophes such as hurricanes, severe storms, earthquakes, or wildfires required.
  • On-site experience with building construction is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of building response to and damage from natural hazards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, professional presentation skills, and strong organizational abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice.
  • Experience in catastrophe modeling is a plus.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
