The Strategic Solutions Architect is the builder behind Sales Engineering's demo experience. You'll develop deep, cross-platform expertise in how Alkami's demo tooling works today — across every product line — then partner directly with Sales Engineers and Sales Leadership to understand where it's falling short and where the opportunity is. From there, you own it: designing, building, and maintaining what that tooling should look like tomorrow, front end and back end. This is a builder and strategic-thinker role, not a release-management seat. Day-to-day demo environment operations are already supported by another role; your mandate is to implement & build and own the next generation of the tooling itself. AI will be central to how you work — you'll use AI-assisted development to build and iterate quickly, and you should already be genuinely fluent with AI tools, not just aware of them.
The role is primarily behind the scenes, but not exclusively. When a deal calls for it — a prospect wants to dig into MANTL's API, Alkami's SDK, or a complex integration — you'll step in directly and go toe-to-toe with technical leaders at the financial institution. That combination of deep builder and credible technical voice in the room is what makes this role valuable.
If you want to make a direct, visible impact on Alkami's win rate — primarily by owning the tools that make every SE's job easier, and occasionally by being the technical closer a deal needs — this is that role. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Build deep, cross-platform expertise in Alkami's demo tooling — how it works today across every product line, front end and back end
Partner directly with Sales Engineers and sales leadership to surface pain points, gaps, and goals for improving or rebuilding demo tooling
Design, build, and maintain the next generation of demo tooling that closes those gaps, using AI-assisted development to move quickly
Step into active deals when a prospect needs deep technical depth — going toe-to-toe with technical leaders at financial institutions on MANTL's API, Alkami's SDK, or complex integrations to remove technical blockers
Serve as the SE org's go-to technical resource for demo tooling questions and complex configuration or capability problems
Identify product limitations, design pragmatic workarounds, and feed field signal back into long-term platform strategy
Coach and upskill Sales Engineers on technical positioning and objection handling grounded in what the tooling can and can't do
Quantify this role's contribution to win rate by tracking outcomes and reporting where recurring technical gaps warrant permanent product investment
Model and champion AI-assisted development workflows across the SE org, consistent with the team's automation standards
Minimum Years of Experience
6–10 years in solutions engineering or software development roles, with demonstrated hands-on experience building tools, prototypes, or internal platforms against APIs, SDKs, or extensibility frameworks, and comfort operating in customer-facing or pre-sales settings when needed.
Education Level
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Required
Hands-on proficiency in one or more modern languages (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Python) sufficient to build and ship both front-end and back-end tooling independently
Deep working knowledge of API and SDK design, authentication, and extensibility frameworks, with the ability to speak to it credibly and in depth with highly technical audiences
Genuine, hands-on fluency with AI-assisted development tools and workflows, with a track record of using them to build and iterate faster
Working proficiency in SQL and relational databases, able to construct and troubleshoot complex queries
Ability to synthesize input from multiple stakeholders into a coherent technical roadmap
Strong presentation and consultative skills in front of senior technical stakeholders, including the ability to hold your own with technical leaders (engineering, IT) at financial institutions
Ability to independently evaluate an existing technical stack or toolset across multiple products and make build, buy, or improve recommendations
Comfort stepping into an active deal on short notice to answer deep technical questions on APIs, SDKs, or integrations, then stepping back out
Experience partnering with Product and Engineering to escalate and prioritize technical gaps surfaced from the field
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value narratives
Preferred
Experience in digital banking or financial services platforms
Direct experience building on an SDK or extensibility framework
Experience building internal tools or platforms used by other teams, rather than only customer-facing product
Track record standing up net-new tooling or infrastructure from scratch (a “0-to-1” builder background)
Exposure to competitive analysis and solution positioning strategies
