Strategic Account Executive

Location: Remote, United States

Reports To: Jessica Thorberg

Compensation Range: $130,000-160,000

About Private Health Management

Private Health Management guides patients and families through the chaos and complexity of serious medical care, for cancer and beyond. As an independent advocate and trusted partner during healthcare’s most challenging moments, our team of experts work alongside physicians to orchestrate the best treatment, advocacy, and support to deliver measurably better outcomes.

Everyone deserves great care. We make sure they get it.

About the Role

As a Strategic Account Executive, you’ll help develop and deliver market shaping services for employers who aspire to deliver better care for employees diagnosed with serious or complex health conditions. You’ll help PHM clients understand and address the burden of complex conditions, such as cancer, on their employees and their business.

You’ll assess current programs and utilization, understand each client’s health plan and broader benefits strategy, and advise clients on adopting PHM programs designed to improve clinical outcomes while managing costs. This is also a revenue driving role, focused on retaining and growing existing accounts through deep relationships and strategies that increase awareness and engagement with PHM’s services.

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Retain and strengthen relationships across your assigned book of business, establishing yourself as a trusted advisor at multiple levels of client organizations.
  • Grow existing accounts by identifying opportunities to increase awareness, engagement, and adoption of PHM services.
  • Help clients assess their current programs, utilization, and benefits strategies to identify opportunities to improve outcomes while managing costs.
  • Build effective partnerships across PHM’s sales, marketing, clinical, and other internal teams to bring the best of PHM to clients.

How You’ll Spend Your Days

Build Strategic Client Relationships

Develop deep relationships with clients and serve as a trusted advisor on complex health and employee benefits initiatives. Work across different levels of client organizations to understand their priorities and connect those needs to PHM’s capabilities.

Drive Retention and Growth

Own relationships across an assigned book of business with a focus on retention and growth. Develop strategies that increase awareness of PHM’s services and drive greater engagement within existing accounts.

Advise Clients

Analyze utilization and understand each client’s health plan and broader benefits strategy. Help clients evaluate existing programs and identify opportunities to adopt PHM solutions that support better clinical outcomes while managing costs.

Collaborate Across PHM

Partner closely with sales, marketing, clinical, and other internal teams to deliver for clients. Navigate an evolving environment where processes and documentation continue to be built and where accessing data may require collaboration with other teams.

What You Bring to the Table

Required

  • 5+ years of success growing and managing complex, multi-stakeholder, client relationships, with prior health and employee benefits plan experience.
  • Proven success establishing yourself as a trusted advisor to clients across all levels of an organization on complex new initiatives.
  • Exceptional executive presence, collaboration, and written and oral communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • High technology literacy and comfort working across tools including Salesforce, Zoom, ServiceNow, Box, Microsoft Office Suite, and Sigma.
  • Experience succeeding in a startup or similarly fast growing environment.
  • Availability and ability to travel regularly.

Compensation

The target base salary for this position is $130,000 - $160,000.

This base salary is only a part of a total compensation package that also includes: health/dental/vision benefits, annual cash incentive program, 401k with match, flexible PTO, PHM for PHM (our services for you and your dependents) and other benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range as a number of factors including market forces, experience, location, disparities in market data and other relevant business considerations may all factor into final compensation.

Location

This is a remote role requiring that you live in and physically perform all work in the United States.

Next Steps

Private Health Management is a remote company with employees across the United States. If your application is selected for next steps, you’ll hear from a member of our recruiting team about the interview process, which may include conversations with the hiring manager, peers, and department leaders, conducted virtually by Zoom or phone.

PHM may use AI-enabled tools at certain points in the recruiting process to help us review candidates consistently and give more qualified applicants an opportunity to be considered beyond their resume. AI tools may support parts of the process, but they do not make hiring decisions. All hiring decisions are made by human reviewers.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
