Job Description:

The opportunity: 

As a Stop Loss Specialist, you represent the Sun Life brand in the market. You will solve our clients’ needs through consultative and solution based selling and build relationships with contacts in your territory to identify, develop and negotiate sales opportunities. This role will focus on developing relationships with our Broker and/or TPA clients in Oregon and Washington. Candidates are able to reside anywhere within this travel territory.

How you will contribute:

  • Sell our Stop Loss product by developing relationships through an established network of insurance brokers, third party administrators and consultants and developing new prospects

  • Develop internal relationships, such as with underwriters, distribution specialists and internal support partners who will assist you in creating specialized plans to meet your clients’ needs

  • Build and establish relationships with key sources to market our portfolio of products to some of the nation's leading employers

  • Construct and maintain a business plan for your designated territory based on sales and strategic initiatives

  • Work effectively and collaborate with multiple representatives in a region

  • Call on existing and potential customers to not only prospect new customers but also to develop a book of business

  • Meet seasonal targets and individual sales goals

What you will bring with you:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university required

  • Previous experience selling the stop loss product is desired, but will consider applicants with strong backgrounds in financial analysis

  • Must have an interest and aptitude to pursue a sales career

  • Commitment to attaining state required Life and Health agent license

  • Strong networking and relationship management skills

  • Proven relationships with underwriting and technical product expertise

  • Excellent organizational, listening, presentation, negotiating and communication skills

  • A passion to succeed and challenge yourself while building a book of business

  • Driven, self-motivated, consultative and a great problem solver

  • A winning attitude and interest in a career that offers independence, professional growth, and high income potential is required

The annual base salary for this position is $78,000 for Washington state residents and $50,000 for Oregon residents, plus the ability to earn variable incentive compensation through a sales incentive plan.
