SUMMARY

This role is responsible for maintaining and analyzing accounting records for a complex private family office. The Staff Accountant will independently monitor and process investment transactions, reconcile portfolio activity, and support investment reporting across multiple entities. This position partners cross-functionally with the family office accounting team, investment office, tax department, and third-party service providers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and strong internal controls across entities and operations.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain and reconcile investment partnership books and records for multiple entities to include timely recording and analysis of investment activity. Serve as a liaison for day-to-day investment operations and provide oversight of third-party administrators to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data. Support preparation of periodic reporting for the overall investment portfolio.
  2. Monitor and analyze corporate actions, evaluating implications across entity-level accounting, reporting, and financial statements. Ensure proper accounting treatment and communication to stakeholders.
  3. Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, investment accounts, and capital activity and resolve discrepancies. Maintain accurate cash balances and prepare transaction requests related to capital calls, distributions, and other fund-related activities.
  4. Identify and implement workflow improvements for both internal teams and external service providers. Proactively evaluate internal controls and escalate risks or inefficiencies. Lead automation and documentation initiatives, including contributing to Power BI reporting implementation and process optimization.
  5. Review investment data, reconciliations, and supporting documentation prepared by third-party administrators or internal teams to ensure accuracy and adherence to internal policies.
  6. Assist in preparing investment performance reports, capital activity summaries, and supporting schedules for management and tax reporting purposes.
  7. Support preparation of audit and tax support schedules related to investment and other entities
  8. Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
  9. Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Accounting required.
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience required and public accounting experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles investment accounting concepts, including capital calls, distributions, in-kind transfers, valuation adjustments, and partnership allocations.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency required; experience with data visualization or reporting tools such as Power BI preferred.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently utilizing technical skills, shows initiative and professional judgment consistently with an emphasis on confidentiality and discretion. 
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and analytical thinking skills required.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to learn new and complete tasks independently
  • Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and an ability to multi-task in a fluid environment.
