How you’ll contribute

A Staff Accountant II who excels in this role:

  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries for assigned hospitals and facility portfolios.

  • Manage the monthly journal entry process for approximately two assigned facilities, ensuring entries are accurate, supported, and completed according to established close timelines.

  • Partner closely with Site Liaisons, facility leadership, HSC teams, and other LBS accounting teams throughout the month-end close process.

  • Review journal entries for appropriate approvals, supporting documentation, and accounting validity.

  • Perform general ledger and subledger analysis, research accounting variances, and investigate transaction activity.

  • Utilize reporting tools (including OTBI and Oracle reporting functionality) to research transactions and support accounting analyses.

  • Maintain compliance with month-end close checklists and ensure all assigned tasks are completed timely.

  • Prepare and analyze accruals, prepaid amortization schedules, and other recurring accounting entries.

  • Support financial reporting activities through account analysis, reconciliations, and journal entry support.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.

  • Identify and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on close efficiency and process standardization.

  • Support assigned facilities located across various U.S. markets and time zones.

  • Assist with special projects, audits, and ad hoc financial analyses as needed.

  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and HIPAA standards.


What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Additional qualifications include:

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.

  • Experience preparing and posting journal entries in a high-volume environment.

  • Strong month-end close experience required.

  • Experience with accrual accounting and prepaid amortization required.

  • General ledger accounting and account analysis experience required.

  • Healthcare or hospital accounting experience preferred but not required.

  • Shared services or multi-entity accounting experience preferred.

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of:

  • Journal entries

  • Month-end close processes

  • Accruals

  • Prepaid expenses and amortization

  • General ledger accounting

  • Financial statement impact of transactions

  • Ability to analyze accounting transactions and identify discrepancies.

  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle experience preferred).

  • Ability to utilize reporting tools and perform transaction-level research.

  • Intermediate Excel skills including formulas, sorting, filtering, and data analysis.

Soft Skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to partner with stakeholders across multiple departments and locations.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with demanding month-end deadlines.


Salary Range: $57,805 - $78,036 per year.
