About SimpliSafe

We’re a high-tech home security company that’s passionate about protecting the life you’ve built with our mission of keeping Every Home Secure. And we’ve created a culture here that cares just as deeply about the career you’re building. Ours is a no-ego culture of collaboration and innovation where those seeking their next challenge can find big opportunities and make a huge impact on the lives of all those we protect. We don’t just want you to work here. We want you to grow and thrive here.

We’re embracing a hybrid work model that enables our teams to split their time between office and home. Hybrid for us means we expect our teams to come together in our state-of-the-art office on two core days—typically Tuesdays or Wednesdays and Thursdays—to work together in person, and teams can choose where they work for the remainder of the week. We all benefit from flexibility and get to use the best of both worlds to get our work done.

Why are we hiring?

Well, we’re growing and thriving. So, we need smart, talented, and humble people who share our values to join us as we disrupt the home security space and relentlessly pursue our mission of keeping Every Home Secure.

We’re seeking a Senior UX Designer to join our growing UX team. In this role, you will help define our next generation of SimpliSafe branded home security products and services. You will be a key player in our monitoring product area, working with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that make it easy for external and internal customers to make every home secure. Influence and contribute to our latest hardware UX and app experiences as well to deliver engaging services across all platforms.

We are

A team of designers, strategists, researchers, engineers, and product folks based in downtown Boston and a Monitoring Center in Richmond, VA. Over more than a decade, we’ve quietly transformed home security from an outdated, unfriendly industry to something elegant, thoughtful, and beautifully designed. We put our customers at the center of everything we do. We care deeply about their experience, and we constantly try to delight them with innovative products and services that are fairly priced. Our top ratings in the App/Play store are a clear validation of our commitment to customer experience. Plus, CNET, Wirecutter, and PCMag all named us their Editors’ Choice for home security.

What you do

  • Partner with UX Designers, UX Researchers, Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to define, design, test, build, and launch top-notch mobile and web experiences
  • Work as an UX generalist across the spectrum of UX and an expert in some. One day, you could be running a design workshop, and the next, jumping in Figma to create a prototype.
  • Join user research in building an understanding of our home security user journey and translate insights into digital experiences from concepts to high-fidelity prototypes
  • Design digital products and services that enhance people’s well-being, meet business needs, and work seamlessly across app and web platforms for all of our customers
  • Help evolve UI components in the SimpliSafe design system

What you need for success

  • Successfully designed and shipped products for SaaS and operational efficiency with a focus on service design
  • A solid understanding of UX design and research principles and best practices
  • A passion and expertise for distilling complexity into simplicity
  • Impactful and effective communicative skills with a passion for details
  • Adept storyteller, connecting the work to both user and business needs to align the team on why
  • Ability to explain your rationale for design decisions that are data-informed
  • Ability to support multiple squads and determine what needs to be done, why, and the best way to do it
  • A nimble, no-ego working style and a curious mindset
  • Experience exploring a new product or service and driving clarity from 0 customers to 1 to many
  • Expertise with various design and agile process tools such as Figma, FigJam, Miro, JIRA, Adobe Creative Suite, etc
  • Must have an online portfolio that highlights your design thinking and expertise

Recommended

  • A degree in a design and/or human behavior-related field, such as Industrial design, Architecture, graphic design, digital media design, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Sociology, Information or Computer Science
  • Experience with accessibility, UX design systems, and agile development
  • Experience with hardware, software, and service design

What values you share

  • Customer obsessed: Building deep empathy for our customers, putting them at the core of our work, and developing strong, long-term relationships with them.
  • Aim high: Always challenging ourselves and others to raise the bar.
  • No ego: Maintaining a “no job too small” attitude, and an open, inclusive and humble style.
  • One team: Taking a highly collaborative approach to achieving success.
  • Lift as we climb: Investing in developing others and helping others around us succeed.
  • Lean and nimble: Working with agility and efficiency to experiment in an often ambiguous environment.

  • A comprehensive total rewards package that supports your wellness and provides security for SimpliSafers and their families (For more information on our total rewards please click here)

We are committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we believe our work is enriched when we incorporate a multitude of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
