Technical Product Manager – QPU Platform
Overview
We are seeking a Technical Product Manager to help shape and guide the evolution of QuEra’s quantum computing platform. This role will sit at the intersection of quantum systems and engineering, driving clarity and alignment in how we define, validate, and integrate the complex subsystems that form our neutral atom quantum computers.
As QuEra scales from individual machine development to a cohesive platform, this role will ensure that requirements are clearly specified, validation protocols are established, and system builds proceed predictably. By bringing structure, visibility, and technical coherence to our process, this person will enable teams to deliver high-performance machines efficiently, collaboratively, and with minimal rework.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Definition & Requirements Governance
- Partner with quantum systems and engineering teams to define clear, detailed, and testable requirements for each subsystem of the platform.
- Translate scientific objectives into structured engineering specifications, ensuring feasibility and completeness.
- Own and maintain the technical specification and design standards for key subsystems (e.g., embedded controllers, calibration systems, automation frameworks, control electronics).
- Document subsystem design, transferability and desired upgrades across multiple programs (Gemini, M3, M4A, M4B, M4UK), emphasizing modularity and extension of the QPU lifecycle .
- Maintain a coherent, system-level view of the platform, ensuring that subsystems contribute effectively to overall architecture goals.
- Prioritize features and requirements to align with company strategy and system capabilities.
Validation, Testing & Standardization
- Define and coordinate validation protocols that ensure modules meet performance criteria before integration.
- Implement and maintain standardized documentation for product requirements, testing protocols, and subsystem specifications.
- Lead efforts to coordinate and document use cases and requirements in standardizing platform design and testing, bringing structure and repeatability to cross-team processes.
- Support cleanup and reduction of technical debt, including documentation, testing, and configuration management improvements.
- Support test planning and execution, leveraging system-level understanding to ensure consistency, reproducibility, and coverage.
Cross-Functional Technical Alignment
- Serve as a bridge between quantum systems and engineering, ensuring that requirements, interfaces, and dependencies are well understood and properly documented.
- Facilitate alignment discussions, technical reviews, and milestone tracking to maintain shared visibility into progress and risks.
- Provide leadership with clear summaries of technical readiness, risks, and dependencies, improving decision-making and planning.
- Promote a culture of disciplined communication and structured documentation across diverse technical domains.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of neutral atom quantum computing systems or similarly complex hardware platforms.
- Proven ability to translate scientific requirements into actionable, structured engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with systems engineering practices, including requirements management, validation planning, and integration testing.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to align multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience in process design and standardization, ideally within a complex technical or scientific environment.
- Background in physics, electrical engineering, or systems engineering preferred.
Why This Role Matters
QuEra’s neutral atom quantum computers are built by a constellation of interdependent teams — physicists, hardware engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists — all contributing to a shared platform. As the company scales, ensuring that each component is designed, tested, and integrated in a coordinated way becomes increasingly critical.
This role exists to create order and consistency amid complexity: defining how we capture requirements, how we validate our builds, and how we ensure that every subsystem fits seamlessly into the larger system. By doing so, this Product Manager will enable faster builds, fewer integration surprises, and a platform that can scale elegantly with QuEra’s ambitions.
Salary: $170,000-250,000QuEra is committed to cultivating a diverse work environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
