- Own cloud and solution architecture across the application including Azure, microservices, APIs, data
- Define and maintain reference architectures, reusable patterns, frameworks, and guardrails to enable consistent and accelerated delivery
- Lead architecture and design reviews, clearly articulating trade offs, risks, and long term implications to technology leadership
- Drive performance, resilience, security, and operational excellence through architectural design
- Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Business to translate business needs into scalable solutions
- Act as design authority for vendor delivered solutions, ensuring adherence to Optum architecture, security, and engineering standards
- Govern vendor execution through design approvals, technical checkpoints, and delivery reviews
- Serve as technical escalation point for complex cross team issues
- Support production readiness, incident analysis, and remediation, ensuring vendors meet SLAs and quality expectations
- Monitor security findings and vulnerabilities, driving timely remediation with vendors and internal teams
- Provide engineering authority, focusing on design quality, best practices, and technical standards
- Participate in code and design reviews to guide design and engineering practices

Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in infrastructure management, application design, architecture, or application delivery
- 3+ years of experience in legacy modernization and cloud-based data modernization
- Experience with modern technology stacks, including: Cloud platforms (Azure preferred), Java and Spring Framework, GitHub Actions and DevOps pipelines, MongoDB and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React), Data engineering tools (ADF, Databricks),
- Experience working with vendor-managed delivery - Understand implementations at a technical level, validate and verify technical deliverables and milestones
- Hands-on technical role, requiring active involvement in validating architecture, solutions, and delivery milestones.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years exposure to digital transformation initiatives (migration from legacy to modern technology stacks)
- Exposure to high-volume, transaction-based systems
