Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to leverage the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.

Key responsibilities:

Work as part of a team of scientists that play a critical role in producing recombinant proteins for structural and biochemical/biophysical studies in support of determining target mechanism of action and ligand engagement.

Searching for an individual who is comfortable multi-tasking and working independently on various aspects across recombinant protein platforms.

  • Provide high quality protein reagents for use in downstream applications.
  • Achieve this using different expression systems including bacteria, insect cells, and mammalian cells to produce recombinant proteins for assays and structural biology.
  • Role will be focused on the protein expression and purification.
  • Qualify and characterize your expressed protein using analytical chemistry techniques.
  • There is potential to perform RNA-based and cell-free methodologies.
  • The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, manage, and communicate the production queue and keep rigorous documentation recorded in your ELN. The candidate must be able to work independently, with strong attention to detail, completing assignments within defined time constraints.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology or similar
  • Sr. Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 4+ years’)
  • OR Masters degree and previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years’)
  • OR PhD

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Expression of soluble and integral membrane proteins in recombinant systems
  • Transformation, transfection, or transduction of appropriate expression systems
  • Maintenance of mammalian and insect cell lines
  • Protein expression optimization, when needed
  • Protein purification using a variety of techniques including but not limited to affinity, ion exchange and size exclusion chromatography
  • Multi-tasking, experiment design, execution, and analysis
  • Maintain clear records of experimental work and be able to organize, report and communicate their results

Able to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities.
