Job Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage advanced expertise in RF design for 5G ORAN macro and small cell networks to perform RFDS creation, PCI planning, site candidate selection, site walks, and propagation modeling/tuning using tools like Planet.
  • Collaborate with national teams on new RAN feature testing, RAN database parameter tuning, and determining equipment/power configurations, including cloud-based DU/CU dimensioning.
  • Optimize 5G Cloud ORAN networks for VoLTE and data by adjusting network parameters, balancing traffic/frequency layers, improving QoS, analyzing and correcting neighbor relations, and driving KPI improvements.
  • Conduct regular audits of PCI, neighbor lists, and golden parameters; monitor KPIs to detect anomalies; and troubleshoot issues with NOC, operations, and RF teams to ensure performance stability.
  • Resolve site-specific technical issues, support customer escalations, and assist with testing activities (drive testing, ATP, 911), including analysis of Layer 3 messages to identify and correct RF problems.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision while staying current on evolving RF standards and technologies, contributing to continuous network improvement and innovation.

Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • A technical degree such as BSEE/BSCS is required and relevant work experience in RF performance and optimization on 5G/LTE working experience with a major wireless carrier or OEM desired
  • Experience with the following highly desired: 5G Open RAN architecture to design, integrate and optimize networks
  • Cellular/Mobile Technology knowledge in 4G/5G and NR theory and practical experience

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to identify network performance gaps and contribute to process improvements that enhance customer experience; skilled in analyzing and presenting data to stakeholders at all levels, with preferred experience in scripting and macro creation.
  • Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, and the flexibility to support team decisions and ideas; comfortable presenting to small groups and collaborating cross-functionally.
