Lead AI product development for hardware design, collaborating with teams, maintaining product roadmap, and conducting user research to enhance solutions.
The summary above was generated by AI

Define the future of hardware development by building an AI agent for circuit designs, enabling the next generation of smart vehicles, robotics, rockets, IOT, medical devices, and much more.

At AllSpice, we’re building the agile development environment for hardware designers, including a Git-friendly translation layer and automated CI/CD framework for native circuit designs – think GitHub/GitLab + Copilot for electronics.

Read more about us in TechCrunch here, and our latest Series A announcement here!

AllSpice’s ECAD-native translation layer, collaboration platform, and automated CI/CD test framework for hardware give us the perfect foundation to introduce generative AI in the electronics design process. We aim to provide generative AI tools to supercharge electrical engineering teams.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an early-stage startup and work closely with our founding team. If you like pushing the boundaries of technology to solve real-world problems, sorting through ambiguity to define focused direction, and working with brilliant team members to achieve more than individual contributions, this role is for you!

About the role

This high-impact role comes with significant autonomy and requires a self-driven, collaborative person. You will:

  • Create, maintain, and champion our AI product roadmap in collaboration with our founders, product, and engineering teams

  • Lead the brainstorming, refinement, and testing of potential new solutions

  • Define, document, and communicate objectives, requirements, and constraints for product initiatives in collaboration with our software engineers

  • Regularly engage with current and potential customers to conduct user interviews, understand their pain points, and gather insights

  • Create mockups and user stories using design tools

  • Research and stay current on industry trends, the state of hardware tooling, and user needs to inform project decisions and the prioritization of tasks

  • Partner with enterprise customers to identify high-value use cases and architect AI solutions that align with their business objectives

  • Design and develop proof-of-concept implementations and technical prototypes to demonstrate platform capabilities

  • Coordinate with Go-to-market teams to best communicate new capabilities and solutions, outlining blog posts and defining marketing strategy for new developments

  • Support customer onboarding and ensure the successful adoption of our AI platform

Sample projects
  • Commercialized copilot agent for electronics design reviews

  • Work with software team members to optimize and index circuit data and component datasheets for RAG

  • Fine-tune agents with specific hardware knowledge

  • Connect with circuit simulation tools to augment generative AI results

  • Develop next-generation agent, generating circuit changes in native design formats

Expectations

Our ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Experience taking an AI-enabled product to market

  • 4+ years of product management experience working on technical, infrastructure, or developer tool products

  • Availability to work out of our flex offices in San Francisco or Boston on a hybrid basis (2-3 times/week)

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technology-related field

  • Project management skills with the ability to lead and collaborate with multiple stakeholders (from engineers to customers) to move projects forward

  • Experience managing software projects using tools such as JIRA, Notion, or a similar issue-tracking system

  • Knowledge of UX/UI best practices, user-centered design, and prototyping skills

  • Can think in terms of the big picture and deliver on the details

  • Beyond just shipping new products, you obsess about continuous product improvement

  • Comfortable sharing feedback and can operate as a peer to our executive team

  • Able to manage ambiguity and is self-directed

Bonus items
  • Early-stage startup experience

  • Exposure to building products in the hardware space or working closely with hardware teams

  • Knowledge of software workflows and Git platforms like GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket

Benefits

Join a team of supportive and intelligent colleagues, enjoy flexible work arrangements, seize the opportunity to make a significant impact, receive a competitive salary & equity, health, dental, vision benefits, generous PTO, and a home office stipend.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
