Position:Sr Manager - Software Engineering And AI

Position Summary:Oversees an engineering team that develops the technology solution provided by Lumeris. Utilizes significant subject matter expertise to provide technical coaching and mentoring to members of the team as well as day-to-day oversight. Works collaboratively across departments to solve problems and accomplish organizational goals around developing solutions that help move the business forward.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages the activities of and coaches, mentors, motivates, supports, and develops a large team of individual contributors and supervisors/managers. Manages and/or supports performance management/corrective action plans, goal setting/review, regular guidance and 1-1 check ins, career development/planning, upskilling, resource allocation, staffing, budget management, DE&I initiatives, and other People & Culture programs/activities as needed. Fosters accountability and collaboration to ensure team member and overall team success.
  • Owns team adherence to project plans, progress reporting, and presenting solutions and strategies to ensure momentum.
  • Works on issues of diverse scope where review of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
  • Ensures team success in supporting and achieving business goals.
  • Develops and administers schedules and performance requirements.
  • Participates in architectural designs and infrastructure deployment of our Cloud-based platform.
  • Directs all phases of the Agile software development life cycle while working with cross-functional team members in a highly collaborative development environment.
  • Assess and communicates risks based on complexity, resource, and timeline constraints.
  • Promotes newly developed best practices, software development techniques, and frameworks with other teams within the organization.
  • Recommends changes to policies and establish procedures that have meaningful and immediate impact on the organization.
  • Responsible for coaching software engineers to improve their skillset and grow their careers.
  • Develops and fosters a culture that is focused on providing value to customers and a mindset of continual improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent  
  • 8+ years of software development experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role
  • 2+ years of leadership experience over a software development team or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role
  • Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to guide, coach, develop, support, and motivate a team in a high paced Enterprise environment
  • Significant experience working with Agile development methodologies
  • Advanced knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Advanced knowledge of Object Oriented Programming techniques and methodologies in Java
  • Advanced knowledge of web MVC frameworks, Responsive web design, RESTful web services
  • Advanced knowledge of schema design and data access methodologies in both relational databases and NoSQL databases; greatly beneficial to have experience in MongoDB and/or Hadoop
  • In-depth knowledge of software development life cycles and their utilization in software projects
  • Sufficient knowledge of build tools and source controls
  • Ample experience guiding teams through technical conversions
  • Demonstrated ability to create scalable software solutions, that result in new business opportunities, patents, or other material IP
  • Ability to work on or oversee multiple, major projects and ensure they are delivered on time according to project schedules
  • Sharp communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work constructively in a collaborative Agile team environment

Preferred

  • Healthcare industry experience  
  • Hands-on experience in the Cloud, specifically AWS
  • Hands-on experience with Open-Source projects

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in normal office working conditions.

Pay Transparency:

Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay rate include your specific skills, experience, qualifications, location, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to the base salary, certain roles may qualify for a performance-based incentive and/or equity, with eligibility depending on the position. These rewards are based on a combination of company performance and individual achievements.

The hiring range for this position is:

$153,800.00-$210,650.00
