You will lead a team responsible for Commercial products design and development in collaboration with business partners. You will research solutions that inform recommended actions to improve profitability, growth and customer experience in support of annual profit and growth plans. In this role, you'll align new products, enhancements and initiatives to the Commercial top and bottom line short-term and long-term goals. You will create insights from intelligence about customers, market and competitors for problem solving and proactively identifying product solutions aligned to product strategy.
You will report to a director, product.

Position Compensation Range:

$131,000.00 - $220,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Lead, develop, and coach the West Regional Product & Market Management team, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Small Commercial West Region, aligning product, market, and business objectives with enterprise goals and priorities.

  • Own P&L performance for the Small Commercial West Region portfolio, including Commercial Multi-Peril, Commercial Auto, Workers' Compensation, and Commercial Umbrella product lines.

  • Drive profitable growth through portfolio management, pricing strategies, underwriting segmentation, capital efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Lead the development and execution of regional product and market strategies, including state-level initiatives, product roadmaps, product guide decisions, and profit and growth planning.

  • Oversee market research, competitive intelligence, customer insights, and data analysis to identify opportunities and enhance product performance.

  • Direct the development and execution of rate plans and filing strategies across states and lines of business within the region.

  • Partner with actuarial, underwriting, sales, claims, marketing, and legal/compliance leaders to drive business results and ensure effective execution of strategic priorities.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of market research and marketplace and regulatory trends 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in product development and/or management with a focus on profit and loss

  • Demonstrated experience developing insurance product strategies

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of root cause analysis and processes

  • Demonstrated effective experience leading people or projects

  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading large complex projects or programs with a cross-divisional impact toward intended results

  • Demonstrated experience in driving to results in one or more of the following areas: sales, product lines, claims, or other core business functions

  • Demonstrated experience communicating to a variety of audiences to review findings, arguments, options, risks, benefits, and other issues in a frame of reference that the audience can understand; translate technical detail into business outcomes

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting facts and data, including financial information, in a way that can lead to actionable conclusions

Additional Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • Solid knowledge of Commercial P&C product management preferably within small commercial and leading regional product management teams.

  • Strong knowledge of pricing & UW segmentation to achieve P&G plan. 

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25%.

In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from either Madison, WI; Boston, MA; Denver, CO; Hopkins, MN or St Joseph, MO. Madison is preferred.
