We’re inclusive, well-rounded professionals who have deep experience in buying, selling, negotiating, operations, design, innovation, finance and more.

As a Senior Manager Marketplace, you will help shape the growth and performance of our Amazon Marketplace business. You will evaluate marketplace economics, build strategies that accelerate profitable growth, and turn complex financial, operational, competitive, and customer data into clear recommendations.

Working across Pricing, Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Catalog/Content, you will influence decisions that improve revenue, profitability, assortment, inventory, fulfillment, and the customer experience. This highly visible role offers the opportunity to lead complex initiatives, advise senior leaders, and serve as a marketplace subject matter expert.

What you will be doing:

  • Drive Marketplace financial and operating performance by analyzing revenue, contribution margin, EBITDA, demand, profitability, and other key business drivers and recommending actions that support business objectives.
  • Develop and execute marketplace growth strategies across assortment expansion, channel migration, inventory optimization, pricing, promotions, and Staples Brand/private-label penetration.
  • Evaluate demand trends, competitive activity, Buy Box dynamics, cost-to-serve, and marketplace economics to identify growth opportunities and address performance gaps.
  • Build financial models, business cases, dashboards, performance reporting, and analytical frameworks to evaluate strategic opportunities, operational improvements, financial returns, and business trade-offs.
  • Assess performance and economics across Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), Seller Fulfilled Prime (SFP) and Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM) to guide channel strategy, fulfillment decisions, and resource allocation.
  • Lead initiatives that improve service levels, inventory availability, fulfillment speed, delivery-promise accuracy, customer experience, and overall cost-to-serve.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and fulfillment teams to optimize inventory positioning, replenishment, routing, fulfillment performance, and marketplace operating economics.
  • Lead complex cross-functional initiatives by establishing objectives, success measures, timelines, ownership, dependencies, and execution plans.
  • Evaluate marketplace program, policy, compliance, operational, and seller-performance issues and develop solutions that balance financial performance, customer experience, risk, and execution requirements.
  • Translate complex marketplace analysis into decision-oriented recommendations for senior leadership, clearly communicating financial implications, trade-offs, risks, opportunities, and expected outcomes.
  • Provide functional leadership and subject matter guidance across marketplace initiatives, mentor less experienced team members, and create alignment among stakeholders with differing priorities.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Strategic thinking, strong business acumen, and an understanding of marketplace economics, P&L drivers, pricing, assortment, inventory, fulfillment, and profitability.
  • A data-driven approach to problem-solving and the ability to translate complex financial, operational, and marketplace information into action.
  • Clear, concise communication skills with the ability to advise senior leaders and influence cross-functional partners without direct authority.
  • A strong sense of ownership, urgency, accountability, and operational discipline.
  • The ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and navigate ambiguous or novel business challenges.
  • A strong execution mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement.

What’s needed: Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, Analytics, or a equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in eCommerce, marketplace management, digital commerce, Amazon operations, or a related commercial function.
  • 3+ years of experience managing complex marketplace businesses, eCommerce operations, or comparable commercial functions.
  • Experience managing or supporting P&L performance, including revenue, margin, and profitability analysis.
  • Experience with Amazon Marketplace operations, including Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM), third-party operations, or comparable marketplace fulfillment models.
  • Strong understanding of Amazon seller tools, Buy Box mechanics, retail media, catalog compliance, and seller health metrics.
  • Experience using advanced Excel modeling and business intelligence or reporting tools to evaluate performance, manage KPIs, and support business decisions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving at least three of the following areas: Pricing, Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Catalog/Content, or fulfillment operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or other advanced degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working for a large third-party marketplace seller, marketplace aggregator, or category-leading Amazon brand.
  • Experience with multiple Amazon fulfillment models, including Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), Seller Fulfilled Prime (SFP) and Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM).
  • Experience with multi-node routing, delivery-promise accuracy, inventory positioning, or supply chain optimization.
  • Experience managing Amazon policy, compliance, seller-health, or appeals processes.
  • Experience using SQL and business intelligence platforms to analyze large or complex datasets.

We Offer:

  • Inclusive culture with associate-led Business Resource Groups
  • Flexible PTO (22 days) and Holiday Schedule (7 observed paid holidays)
  • Online and Retail Discounts, Company Match 401(k), Physical and Mental Health Wellness programs, and more!
