About SimpliSafe

We’re a high-tech home security company that’s passionate about protecting the life you’ve built and our mission of keeping Every Home Secure. And we’ve created a culture here that cares just as deeply about the career you’re building. Ours is a no ego culture of collaboration and innovation where those seeking their next challenge can find big opportunities and make a huge impact on the lives of all those who we protect. We don’t just want you to work here. We want you to grow and thrive here.
We’re embracing a hybrid work model that enables our teams to split their time between office and home. Hybrid for us means we expect our teams to come together in our state-of-the-art office on two core days, typically Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday – working together in person and choosing where they work for the remainder of the week. We all benefit from flexibility and get to use the best of both worlds to get our work done.

Why are we hiring?

Well, we’re growing and thriving. So, we need smart, talented, and humble people who share our values to join us as we disrupt the home security space and relentlessly pursue our mission of keeping Every Home Secure.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and evolve hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test automation infrastructure to provide rapid, production-like feedback on firmware and system behavior
  • Develop and maintain validation frameworks, test harnesses, and environments tailored for embedded and distributed systems
  • Create and maintain build and automation pipelines for firmware, including packaging, testing, and deployment workflows
  • Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision and manage scalable development and validation environments
  • Implement monitoring and logging to track validation system health, performance, and reliability
  • Conduct early reviews of product requirements, specifications, and designs to shift validation left and identify issues before implementation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve validation, build, and deployment issues to ensure high system availability and fast feedback cycles
What You’ll BringRequired
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, system validation, or automated testing for distributed or embedded systems
  • Strong programming skills in Python (PyTest or similar frameworks) with solid object-oriented design principles
  • Experience designing and implementing automation frameworks or system-level validation across distributed or embedded systems
  • Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and build pipelines for complex systems
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across system layers (firmware, services, APIs, infrastructure)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional environments, with strong communication skills
Strongly Preferred
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, device simulation, or embedded/IoT systems
  • Experience with build tools and dependency management (e.g., CMake, Conan)
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with networking and wireless protocols (TCP/IP, WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE)
  • Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability in validation or CI systems
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and driving improvements in engineering workflows
What Values You’ll Share
  • Customer Obsessed - Building deep empathy for our customers, putting them at the core of our work, and developing strong, long-term relationships with them.
  • Aim High - Always challenging ourselves and others to raise the bar.
  • No Ego - Maintaining a “no job too small” attitude, and an open, inclusive and humble style.
  • One Team - Taking a highly collaborative approach to achieving success.
  • Lift As We Climb - Investing in developing others and helping others around us succeed.
  • Lean & Nimble - Working with agility and efficiency to experiment in an often ambiguous environment.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
