IQVIA’s Pre-Commercial team is focused on supporting emerging pharmaceutical companies, as they prepare to bring new therapies to market. This group incorporates key IQVIA capabilities to support across core areas of our clients’ businesses. 

 

We are currently seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll oversee key account relationships while driving growth for this segment by developing account strategies, expanding new business relationships, leading complex negotiations, and coordinating IQVIA resources to deliver holistic solutions aligned to each client’s needs.  

  • The Sr. Director will be primarily responsible for overseeing both account management and new business development responsibilities for the Precommercial Segment.
  • Promotes, recommends and sells solutions, products and services to other individuals and organizations. This includes developing, managing, and implementing sales strategies, identifying potential customers, and cultivating existing customer relationships to close deals.
  • Works with an integrated GTM team to develop and implement the specific client strategy and bring them a holistic solution that addresses their business challenges.
  • Develops relationships with key decision makers and executives within assigned accounts 

 

Primary Responsibilities 
  • Directs the activities of a sales team to achieve/exceed the assigned revenue and growth goals in the sales territory. 

  • Takes proactive role in contract strategy. Develops strategy for expanding scope of existing contracts and identifying new business opportunities. 

  • As required, may lead negotiations in multi-year and multi-service contract(s) within assigned accounts.

  • Develops relationships with key executives and decision makers within assigned accounts.

  • Manages the overall relationship to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. 

  • Provides leadership to the sales team and coordinates the involvement of IQVIA resources (marketing, consulting, client services) in actively promoting the full IQVIA portfolio of products and consulting services to anticipate and meet client needs. 

  • Develops and executes account plan(s) and monitors progress.

  • Adjusts plan accordingly to consider IQVIA new product/service offerings as well as significant changes to business conditions. Managing direct reports activities and selling efforts 

  • Participating in account and large play strategy planning efforts 

  • Engaging clients to drive opportunity development and close.

  • Additionally, this role is responsible for providing weekly forecast call input and activity reviews.
     

Key Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 

  • Minimum 10+ years relevant sales or account management experience within the life sciences industry.

  • Experience selling consulting, data, and/or analytics solutions with pharmaceutical clients is highly preferred.

  • Requires broad management knowledge to lead teams, and well as the ability to influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, procedures, and goals. 

  • Marketing experience leading brands, within small or emerging pharma preferable 

  • Knowledge of IQVIA offerings, customer account management and pharmaceutical industry. 

  • Problem solving, negotiation, planning, relationship building, presentation, and written and oral communication skills are essential. 

  • Ability to set vision and direction. 

  • Ability to influence outcomes. 

  • Team-orientation.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $125,300.00 - $349,000.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
