Description

CM&B is seeking a motivated Accounting Intern (Co-op) to join our Accounting and Finance team. This role provides hands-on experience in the financial operations that support commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects.

As an Accounting Intern, you'll gain exposure to a variety of accounting functions while working alongside experienced accounting professionals. You'll learn how financial information is processed, tracked, and reported, and how accounting plays a critical role in the successful delivery of construction projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields who are interested in building a career in accounting or the construction industry.

What You'll Learn

As an Accounting Intern, you will:

  • Develop an understanding of accounting processes within a construction management environment.
  • Gain exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and project accounting functions.
  • Learn how financial data is tracked and reported throughout the life of a construction project.
  • Understand how accounting teams collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Build knowledge of financial controls, documentation, and reporting processes.
  • Gain practical experience with accounting systems and industry-specific financial practices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Support invoice processing, coding, and reconciliation.
  • Help maintain vendor and subcontractor records.
  • Assist with data entry, filing, and financial record maintenance.
  • Support project accounting and cost tracking activities.
  • Help prepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with account reconciliations and month-end processes.
  • Respond to internal requests for accounting information and documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects and process improvements.
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in accounting and financial operations.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
