Customer-facing technical role designing and supporting SaaS integrations for RFID-based retail inventory deployments. Responsibilities include solution architecture, API and data integration support, technical testing, troubleshooting, deployment optimization, pre-sales demonstrations, customer training, performance analysis, and product feedback. The role requires collaboration with customer IT teams, sales, product specialists, and international technical colleagues while managing multiple implementations and traveling 25–35% domestically and internationally.

At NEDAP Retail, we help retailers achieve accurate, real-time inventory visibility through iD Cloud, our SaaS platform built around RFID technology. Our North American team works closely with retailers, product specialists, and technical colleagues in the Netherlands to turn complex store and enterprise environments into reliable, scalable deployments.

We are hiring an iD Cloud Solutions Engineer to join the North American Operations team. This is a customer-facing technical role spanning solution design, integration support, deployment, troubleshooting, product feedback, training, and selected pre-sales work. It is not a pure coding position. You will succeed by combining hands-on technical judgment with curiosity, clear communication, and ownership.

What you'll do

  • Design and support customer integrations: Analyze each retailer's IT architecture, data flows, network, hardware, and operational environment. Advise on the iD Cloud SaaS solution and support API and data integrations from pre-rollout through full deployment.
  • Deploy and optimize the solution: Lead or support end-to-end technical testing across data transfer and integrity, network and hardware connectivity, application behavior, and system performance. Diagnose problems, recommend alternatives, and help customers move from pilot to scalable rollout.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor: Build strong relationships across customer organizations. Answer product and architecture questions, surface risk early, and translate technical tradeoffs into clear recommendations.
  • Support pre-sales and demonstrations: Partner with Business Development and Sales on technical discovery, configured demo environments, product demonstrations, and detailed follow-up with customer technology teams.
  • Enable customer teams: Train client champions, IT helpdesks, store teams, and ecosystem partners so they can operate and support the solution successfully over time.
  • Turn feedback into improvement: Advocate for customers with NEDAP product and technical teams. Document patterns and best practices, influence the product roadmap, and create repeatable solutions across deployments.
  • Analyze and communicate performance: Use data and reporting to explain solution performance, identify opportunities, and recommend improvements to internal product teams and customer stakeholders.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a related field, plus 2-8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience specifying, configuring, or troubleshooting hardware, software, networks, data feeds, APIs, or multi-system customer environments.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills, including the ability to anticipate architecture or integration risks before a pilot or rollout and design a workable alternative when conditions change.
  • Experience running several customer implementations or technical workstreams at once, maintaining a plan across internal and customer teams, and driving action through influence rather than authority.
  • Excellent communication skills with the range to explain the same architecture accurately to executives, technical specialists, helpdesk teams, and store users.
  • A self-directed working style. You test, research, ask questions, make decisions, and own the result, including when the first approach does not work.
  • Proficiency with Excel for data analysis. Experience with SQL, Python, JavaScript, or comparable technical tools is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work from the Burlington, Massachusetts office two to three days per week.
  • Ability to travel 25-35% domestically and internationally, including work trips to NEDAP headquarters in the Netherlands.

What success looks like

In your first 90 days, you will learn the core iD Cloud features through hands-on use, shadow experienced Solutions Engineers, understand the major customer integration patterns, and begin contributing to a live deployment. Over time, you will become a trusted technical partner who can move confidently between customer discovery, technical troubleshooting, implementation, training, and product improvement.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $120,000 to $135,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

NEDAP is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. We provide equal employment opportunities without regard to any characteristic protected by applicable law.

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
