Why this role is important to us
The team you will be joining is part of our Global Technology and Payment Platforms organization, a function that is vital to the company because it enables the secure, timely, and resilient movement of critical financial transactions. This role is important because it ensures payment business requirements are accurately defined, business processes are clearly understood across regions and payment rails, and change initiatives are aligned to operational controls, regulatory expectations, client needs, and strategic platform transformation priorities.
What you will be responsible for
As a Payments Software Engineering & Development, AVP, you will:
- Partner with business stakeholders, payment operations teams, product owners, and technology teams to gather, analyze, and document business, functional, data, and control requirements for domestic and international payment capabilities.

- Work across major domestic and international payment markets and schemes such as Fedwire, CHIPS, CHAPS, CHATS, TARGET services, SWIFT, and other market infrastructures relevant to the business footprint.
- Translate business objectives into clear user stories, process maps, business rules, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria that support solution design and delivery.
- Analyze end-to-end payment workflows, identify process gaps, control points, exception scenarios, and operational inefficiencies, and recommend improvements that enhance resiliency, efficiency, and client service.
- Work closely with business and technology teams to support changes involving payment messages and standards such as SWIFT MT/MX, ISO 20022, and message types including pacs.008, pacs.009, pacs.004, camt.052, camt.053, camt.054, and pain.001, along with reference data, settlement processes, reconciliation, exception handling, sanctions screening touchpoints, and downstream impacts.
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder discussions, requirement review sessions, and impact assessments to build alignment across domestic and international payment stakeholders.
- Support prioritization of initiatives by assessing business value, risks, dependencies, operational impact, and regulatory considerations across payment processes.
- Work closely with development and testing teams to clarify requirements, support functional validation and UAT, and ensure delivered solutions meet business expectations.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams on solution design, API and interface requirements, system integration points, and technical dependency analysis to support scalable and maintainable payment platform development.
- Support software development lifecycle activities including backlog refinement, release planning, defect triage, test scenario review, and production readiness for payment application changes.
- Contribute to the design and continuous improvement of resilient, secure, and high-performing payment applications by helping identify opportunities for automation, process simplification, and technical modernization.
- Design, develop, and enhance payment application components, services, and interfaces using modern engineering practices to support secure, scalable, and high-availability transaction processing.
- Support system integration across payment engines, middleware, APIs, messaging platforms, databases, and upstream/downstream applications to ensure reliable end-to-end transaction flow.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering standards adoption to improve code quality, maintainability, and platform consistency.
- Contribute to performance optimization, resiliency improvements, production issue analysis, and root cause remediation for business-critical payment systems.
- Partner with infrastructure, platform, and security teams to support environment readiness, deployment activities, observability, and compliance-aligned technical implementation.
- Contribute to audit, control, and regulatory initiatives by ensuring requirements, process documentation, traceability, and evidence are complete and accurate.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and cross-team coordination in a multi-location environment.
