About Us

Reframe Systems is on a mission to build net-zero carbon housing for all, at massive scale. To achieve our mission, we need to make net-zero carbon housing more affordable and we are re-imagining how housing is designed and built. Our modular building platform and highly-automated production system will drive down cost, delivery time, and embodied carbon for ADUs and multifamily housing. At the heart of our innovation is a software-driven approach to design and manufacturing. We are setting up our first software-driven factory in the greater Boston area (Andover, MA), and have a roadmap to scale our presence nationally. We are disrupting assembly line manufacturing for housing production and are backed by leading VC firms in the industrial and construction space.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior FeatureScript Developer to join our Design Automation (DA) team. This team is at the core of our mission, building the essential software tools that bridge the gap between design and manufacturing. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of Onshape and FeatureScript, a knack for solving complex geometric problems, and a passion for creating robust, user-friendly automation tools. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, directly with our Design Engineering (DE), Manufacturing and Operations, and Architecture teams to understand their challenges and build the solutions that will define the future of industrialized construction. This is a unique opportunity to have a massive impact on how we design and build homes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain production-level FeatureScript applications within the Onshape platform to automate the design of our building components.

  • Collaborate closely with internal customer teams to understand their workflows, identify pain points, and translate their needs into well-defined technical requirements and user stories.

  • Drive the architecture and implementation of new FeatureScript tools for panelization, MEP routing, BOM generation, and other critical aspects of our CAD-to-fabrication pipeline.

  • Debug and resolve issues with existing FeatureScript tools, ensuring their stability and reliability for the DE team.

  • Contribute to the long-term vision and roadmap for the Design Automation team, helping to shape the future of our software-defined manufacturing processes.

  • Validate hypotheses through data-driven experimentation and prototyping, and effectively document and communicate your findings to a highly interdisciplinary team.

  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement within the technology group.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on 3D CAD and parametric modeling.

  • Demonstrated expertise in Onshape and FeatureScript, with a portfolio of projects showcasing your ability to create complex and robust automation tools.

  • Excellent software development skills in modern programming languages such as Python, C++, or TypeScript.

  • Deep understanding of 3D geometry, topology, and coordinate systems.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with users and stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver software that meets their needs.

  • Proficiency in professional engineering best practices, including code reviews, source control (Git), CI/CD, and testing.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Self-motivated and able to solve problems independently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing startup environment.

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM field.

Bonus

  • Experience in delivering software systems that orchestrate workflows across software, human, and machine systems, such as in automated factories.

  • Experience with the Onshape API and developing external applications that interact with Onshape.

  • Familiarity with the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry and building information modeling (BIM).

  • Experience with cloud-native architecture and distributed systems.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
