Your Role:
Chewy is hiring a Software Engineer III for our Boston, MA, offices. As a Software Engineer within our CPH Team, you will be doing exciting work to deliver a best-in-class experience for Chewy's partners and internal users.
Responsibilities:
- Actively guide Team Members and participate in the definition, design, development, testing, and implementation of software functionality using an agile methodology
- Build or modify complex, scalable, distributed software systems.
- Contribute to code quality requirements, provide feedback, and promote collaborative solutions for your team during code review
- Guide Team Members and advise partners on improvements and optimizations to features, practices, processes, and operations
- Work with and advise both collaborators and technology teams on how best to implement desired features and enhancements
- Communicate project status, risks, and solutions to the team and partners, and act as the technical point of contact to influence collaborators regarding trade-offs
- Ensure that technical solutions for your team follow standard processes, are reliable, are easily maintainable, and are scalable under sustained load
- Collaborate to identify, isolate, and resolve malfunctions related to software
- Lead Team Members by example, advocating for standard methodologies and influencing software engineering team hiring practices as the team continues to grow
- Lead technical teams in the development and delivery of projects
- Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to operational excellence
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or similar; or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience in current web application core technologies: Java, Spring, ReactJS
- Experience designing and integrating with RESTful APIs
- Experience designing software services and/or components and architecture
- Proven ability to effectively connect with stakeholders
- Ability to balance multiple priorities at a given time
- Must be team-oriented and have a customer-first mindset
- Strong analytical abilities
Preferred:
- 1+ year acting in a technical lead capacity
- Experience leading technical teams in the development and delivery of projects
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms
- Experience with React, Next.js
- Experience with Docker or Kubernetes
- Experience with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar automated testing tools
- Experience developing CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins or a similar tool
- Experience working in e-commerce
